I feel this hymn is incomplete because it stops at Christ's death in the third verse. I have one final verse I believe would have nicely wrapped up this wonderful song... What glories we have now that He is alive Salvation is granted through Jesus the Christ The promise of heaven and new life in store Our sins they are many, His mercy is more!

In fact, maybe even one verse more to take us into Christ’s presence, ending with -“Our sins they WERE many, His mercy is more” (I was thinking of changing it also to “Our sins they WERE many, His mercy WAS more,” but I didn’t want that to be misunderstood)

To wake up this morning downtrodden, to remember this song and my favourite verse (Lam 3:22-24). I am reminded that He does not apportion today's mercies to yesterday's forgiven sins because Rom 8:1-5. As one of the "weakest, vilest and poor" I can testify that: My sins they are many His mercies are more and new every morning. All praises to The Most High God, Who was and is and is to come. To Whom salvation belongs. Praises to Our Father, to Christ our Saviour and to The Holy Spirit who is in and among us.

Absolutely a beautiful hymn. Matt Boswell, we wish you Godspeed recognition in our churches so as to extend your influence on theology and doxology. But, after being shut up for 14 days I couldn't help but think that I had seen this woman before at 2:02 . She looked so familiar. Then I realized that Ursula the Sorceress got saved :) Am I crazy now?

If you watch the Michael W. Smith worship special he did in Nashville a while back, I think she's part of the choir in that. If not her, they both look very similar.

@@whunt29708 She must be in a Nashville choir. The fiddle player (Maggie White) is also a Nashville studio musician. Being that the Getty's live in Nashville they probably have many contacts with Christian artists in that town.

The important is the letter, the style of music depends of the person, maybe you like gospel, or opera, I think this style is good, and the letter talk about Jesus, and that's the most important, today many song tslk about man and not about Jesus, and this song it's about Jesus, I can't see any problem with this song or style of music.

⁸ The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. *-Psalm 103:8* *Cross-References: ¹⁶/¹⁹* ⁶ And the Lord passed by before him, and proclaimed, The Lord, The Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, ⁷ Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation. *-Exodus 34:6-7* ¹⁸ The Lord is longsuffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation. *-Numbers **14:18* ¹⁰ And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments. *-Deuteronomy 5:10* ¹⁷ And refused to obey, neither were mindful of thy wonders that thou didst among them; but hardened their necks, and in their rebellion appointed a captain to return to their bondage: but thou art a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and forsookest them not. *-Nehemiah **9:17* ⁵ For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee. *-Psalm 86:5* ¹⁵ But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, long suffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth. *-Psalm 86:15* ⁷ Let Israel hope in the Lord: for with the Lord there is mercy, and with him is plenteous redemption. *-Psalm 130:7* ⁸ The Lord is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy. *-Psalm 145:8* ⁷ Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. *-Isaiah 55:7* ¹⁸ Thou shewest lovingkindness unto thousands, and recompensest the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their children after them: the Great, the Mighty God, the Lord of hosts, is his name, *-Jeremiah 32:18* ¹³ And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the Lord your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil. *-Joel **2:13* ² And he prayed unto the Lord, and said, I pray thee, O Lord, was not this my saying, when I was yet in my country? Therefore I fled before unto Tarshish: for I knew that thou art a gracious God, and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repentest thee of the evil. *-Jonah 4:2* ³ The Lord is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked: the Lord hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet. *-Nahum 1:3* ²⁰ Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: ²¹ That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord. *-Romans 5:20-21* ⁷ In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; ⁸ Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence; *-Ephesians 1:7-8* ¹¹ Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy. *-James 5:11*
