Kyle didn’t have to do any of those things, but he was still a good person. the terminator just killed whoever was in his path without remorse. the cops don’t care either way when they see you are armed and tell you to freeze, they will shoot you if you don’t. Kyle wasnt even worried about that he just wanted to keep chasing the terminator but Sarah snapped him out of it back into reality.

I was saying something similar about Robocop a while back. In addition to all the great performances from the main cast and characters with significant screen time, even the smallest parts in these 80s movies feel like real people and lived in. They don't exist just to be sarcastic or comic foils or deliver lame one liners like in most modern movies. They feel like people reacting to the situation around them the way a person would if it were really happening. Terminator and Robocop are examples of films where the director paid great attention to detail in every aspect. Like in this movie, as much as everyone hates him, the police shrink Dr. Silbermann is a terrific character that feels fully realized even in his few minutes of screen time. Nowadays, a character like that would be spouting forgettable, cringe dialogue that people just accept because modern films have been reduced to memes and sound bytes.

The look of pain and sadness on Kyles face as he describes the death camps and working as human slave is so heartbreaking. Pure trauma and pain and in his voice he almost sounds like he’s going to break down crying until he mentions John Connor. It blows my mind that Michael Behn never got a huge career going with acting like this. The made conveyed so much through his expressions. Pain, trauma, regret, survivors guilt, hatred, and hope verging on zealousness to the man that saved them from annihilation. Compared to many so called “greatest actors” of the time and even today, Behn is a master and it’s a crime he wasn’t given more movie roles.

It's interesting that the machines enacted genocide pretty similarly to how the Nazis did it. Unless the future doesn't have enough automation of industrial processes yet to cater to all the needs lf the machines, I don't think there is any reason to employ humans as slaves. The Nazis counted on the camp labour for their economy but if all the things the machines need can already be done by machines, that should be simpler than enslaving humans to those ends. Doing so and keeping them alive for a while sounds like a greater effort than just swarming the world with machines to kill every human on sight and only capture them alive for interrogation after which they are killed.

In case anybody do not know, Kyle does have an advantage in this fight with the T-800. Luckily for him, the shotgun he picked up when he arrived in the past has an extended mag of 7 rounds. However, the shotgun the T-800 has is a standard model with only 4 rounds. As a bonus, Kyle sawed off his shotgun for it to have a pistol grip for him to use it one handed. Sadly, the T-800's shotgun is not sawed off, so he must use both hands to use it. Tough luck.

3:54 The Terminator had to flee the scene because of his numerous mechanical injuries. His CPU calculated the threat of a whole entire police squad heading towards the crime scene. Not to mention, he was most likely out of shells for that Ithaca 37 police shotgun. He also left his stolen firearms from the gun shop back at the motel room.
@SoldierOfFate
@SoldierOfFate 4 жыл бұрын
Interesting analysis, but two things don't get me: how did the T-800 get that motel room, and how did Kyle get so many shells for his shotgun? The shotgun probably had around 8 shells preloaded when he stole it from the police car and he definitely shot way more than that.

That makes zero sense. It totally goes against his programming. He walked into a police station and killed how many cops looking for Connor? He didn’t care then and there were more cops there with more powerful firearms. Then He was later cut in half and still he kept crawling towards them to kill her. And even without ammo are we supposed to believe he just wouldn’t use his barehands and strangle her?? Was he programmed to shoot her or kill her by any means?
@zerothefaceless4888
@zerothefaceless4888 4 жыл бұрын
@@deelo2281 When he got to the police station, he was armed to the teeth and fully functional. right now he only has a few side-arms with limited bullets, not enough to kill every cop present, plus damager right hand and eye. It's unlikely they'd kill him, but if they know what they're dealing with, they'd call the military and that could be trouble. It's better to get back in fully operational form and then engage on your terms than be rash and possibly jeopardize the mission.
@deelo2281
@deelo2281 4 жыл бұрын
Zero the Faceless why does he care? He’s a Terminator. His only goal is to kill Sarah Connor. When he was cut in half did he calculate his odds of success or did he just keep going? This scene make no sense whats0ver given the ruthlessness of the terminator and the his programming.

@zerothefaceless4888 4 жыл бұрын
@@deelo2281 Just because it's his only mission, it doesn't mean he needs to be dumb about it. Terminators are infiltration units and they'd be pretty crappy infiltrators if they weren't able to wait for an opportunity. Imagine making an amazing movie about a cybernetic assassin sent back in time to kill a woman that would eventually give birth to the man that would lead the resistance in a war against machines. Also imagine making another fantastic movie, this a sequel about a young boy targeted for termination by another assassin from the future. Just imagine making both of those INCREDIBLE movies, then coming up with the bright idea to kill off the main character of the franchise: the man destined to save the human race, and replace him with a little girl, and singlehandedly ruining the entire franchise in the process...

For some reason I always thought that Sarah yanked the handbrake, didn't know she put the gear selector into park. I'm pretty sure that wouldn't have stopped the car (the lock mechanism in the transmission would've probably just ratcheted while the car kept rolling forward, though I could be wrong). That said, the fact that Reese couldn't get the car into gear seems accurate, I'd assume the gear selector would in fact get jammed.

So, from 1:38 to 3:21 - less than 2 minutes of nail-biting car chase. 2 cars, 3 people and guns - it's straight to the point. The crane chase in T3 however is IMO an example of 'over-doing' things. It wasn't even scary or anything; at NO point during the 8 or so minutes it lasted I sat with the feeling that Connor & Brewster was not going to make it. There was simply WAY too much going on with the huge crane truck, fire truck, dozens of cars being smahed, tons of explosions, entire sections of a building collapsing etc. I prefer this kinda chase - call me old school. :P

I rather pretend Dark Fate doesn't exist. No sequels can't beat T1 and T2 for many reasons: - Elements of SCFI/ Horror sub-Genre - The Future War phenomenal opening - Endoskeleton were realistic (though it was puppeteer) - The brutality in violence - Brad Fiedel's scores - John Connor looks up to the Terminator as a father figure - Sarah Connor's transformation - Nuclear nightmare scene that scared the shit out of me - Guns N Roses - Explosions and non-stop action (done in both 80's and 90's) - ILM's VFX on the T-1000 - Stan Winston's mad creations

You can’t really compare them. They’re two different types of Terminators. Robert Patrick was absolutely brilliant, very cold and reptilian.

I disagree, I think he's more threatening as a nice guy.

T1 is one of the most badass movies ever. T2 is just a masterpiece. Conan the Barbarian just kicks ass.

The music really heightens the tension. Brad Fiedel did an amazing job, wouldn't be the same without him.
