@@jmgonzales7701you have to be relaxed and then as you punch, your muscles tense in the right/most efficient sequence as energy transfers from pushing off the ground the ground through your legs, hips and arms. Well said. The power comes from the body weight that follows the arms that follow the fists and it all comes down to end of arm reach and body/hips twist. @Tiger Black If he's loading up on the heavy bag sure. It's bad practice if you're going to box competitively because you develop bad habits in training that almost always carry over to an actual boxing match. People are still going to do that sometimes, like with the machine that measures your punching power. That kind od thing is understandable though. When he's sparring he doesn't load up and/or telegraph like that. Even when he's training he doesn't load up the same way, although he does load up a little bit. What I like about it is that it has the heft to stay largely in place so I'm not chasing it around. It's tall enough to allow for headshots and body shots, but it's short enough to give an uppercut somewhere to land. I'm very happy so far. Filling it was a bit of a cluster. For top-offs, I've learned that you can screw the supplied nozzle onto any basic plastic water bottle. I can't speak to durability as I've only had it a week.

@NoxVespius I never used wraps of gloves. But trained in Jujitsu with a old school instructor. Although Jujitsu is known for Grappling especially since BJJ we used a lot of strikes too. He never allowed gloves. His reasoning being you can't wear gloves in a fight outside a ring. So my only knowledge is from that. I've always had strong punches. Not on this lads level but not far off. I never suffered any injuries striking apart from cuts from slipping off bags/pads from not hitting flush. Something I stopped doing after a while. I find it surprising anyone could damage bones punching a bag or pads. Maybe what you're saying about the reason for gloves is correct. But what you're saying about technique isn't. If you don't strike flush and slip off that bag without gloves you'll shed and cut your knuckles. Especially if you strike hard.

I've heard that a lot of old school trainers were (and probably still are) against the idea of weightlifting because it makes the boxer stiffer and doesn't increase his power in any significant way. @christianisaac9327
@christianisaac9327 Жыл бұрын
Yes because weightlifting is a very slow action. It doesn’t help at all to be able to lift more weight slowly. It’s about speed and creating the most force, thus creating the biggest impact and more penetrative strike. What makes bag pop is the material snapping back from being caved in for a split second. It’s about being able to strike with maximum impact , not being able to push the hardest. That’s why people who look at how much the bag moves to indicate power have no clue what they’re talking about. If you swing a fist size sledge hammer at a bag it will just punch a hole through from the impact. It would not send the bag flying. Theoretically the most spectacular powerful punch in the universe would have your fist just punch a hole through the bag and your arm would be stuck in it or go through it. With how much velocity can you accelerate your mass is the 🔑
@KorashSyndikat
@KorashSyndikat Жыл бұрын
@@christianisaac9327 Saying that weightlifting is a very slow action is kinda ignorant though. Of course it depends on the type of weightlifting but elite weightlifters in the snatch or the clean and jerk dont do that slow...sure it is slower that a punch maybe but slow? @@KorashSyndikat compared to the speed of a competitive boxers punch, yes even a clean and jerk is incredibly slow. the main point is, even if you get stronger or more “powerful” from trying to move weights as fast as possible, you still wont necessarily hit harder or faster because of it.
