Good video. Here's something you might have missed about that solo. He only plucked the string once. He never plucked it again. It was all putting feelings through his touch into the string, and then driving the sound through his amp. That, and the singer's voice? That's true magic. Real truth. Love hurts.
@BillPresson3 жыл бұрын
Never noticed that. Incredible.

Well he had an E-bow to allow that string to sustain for that long!
@willshultz78132 жыл бұрын
@@ricomajestic Yep! Just didn't want to get too technical about it for folk who might not be musicians or don't know what an Ebow is and how it is used (been around since the 1920 iirc, and originally used in pianos to replace the hammers). But yes, you're correct. An Ebow was used - pluck it once, sustain forever and ever! Still, gotta say it again: what he did with that one note, and the feeling he put into it, helped drive the sound. It was absolute magic.

Dan McCafferty himself said that he wasn't the one who wrote these lyrics, but he would really like to have written them because it had everything to do with him and the band and the composer said that he wrote them to be sung exactly in his voice.The lyrics of the song say that everyone will experience love and see that love also hurts, a disappointment in love or the death of the loved one, only the pain of loss for having loved someone will remain.

I had a black room mate named Michael Sneed that shared the dorm that was assigned us to. He was from Oakland Ca. and I'm a white dude from Po-dunk South Carolina. Anyway one Sunday we were talking music and he played Rose Royce 'Love don't live here anymore" and I dug it, still do to this day. I put in Nazareth 'Love hurts", and he said "damn those brothers can sing". I said "those brothers are white" and he couldn't believe it. After 6 weeks of tech school, we hugged and said goodbye; then we exchanged cassettes. Great guy .I think of him often
