Hi Glitched, thanks for such an informative video. My biggest question from what I’ve heard with Hisense tvs is updating of apps, for example DSTV Now. Is that something you were able to test?

Updating apps is an issue. I currently have the U80H and can't launch DSTV. It doesn't open at all. So it is a problem. However, I ended up getting an Android box and just use all my apps on there now. Better experience, better apps.

I haven't used the LG but I would definitely recommend the Hisense over it just because the Hisense uses Android TV and has better local dimming than the LG Nano.

I was pretty excited until I heard the having to choose between VRR and local dimming part. For all the problems my 2021 Vizio PQX has, local dimming is unchanged with VRR.

You can do a work around. Most people don't Know VRR and free sync are 2 different things. Local dimming wont work with free sync but if you disable it and you can use the VRR that's built into the hdmi 2.1 and local dimming. It was the same with the U8G.

The 65-inch is a great model for sports and movies. Look at the ULED U7H from Hisense. It has some great sports features that help with motion during fast-paced shots.

The U7H isn't a Mini-LED so it is very different tech. Doesn't get as bright. However, for an LED TV with full array local dimming, the U7H is excellent. Just tough to compare the two because they are different.

Hey fellow South African! I recently got a PS5 to pair with this TV, but when I enable HDR on the console, the TVs image looks a bit faded and bland, and also quite dark. Did you also notice this when using the TV? If so, did you find a fix?

Is there a milky film over the display? Be sure to have Enhanced Format enabled on the HDMI port you're using. I would also calibrate the HDR in the PS5 settings. If that doesn't work perhaps try resetting all your picture settings and start from scratch.

I really enjoyed the U7H tbh. While the brightness is amazing on the U8H, I feel like there's definitely a lot more bloom on that model which kind of moves me away from it. If I was on a budget, I would definitely be happy with the U7H. I also think Hisense will only improve the blooming going forward so the U8H might be suffer from "early adopters" syndrome and hopefully, future Mini-LED models are better in some regards.

I originally grabbed some Baseus ones from Takealot last year. You can buy the starter pack with the controller box and 1.5M strip for R379 from Takealot. Then you can buy the add-on strips for R269 slowly. They are nice because you can add up to five strips to the one controller box and start out small and expand over time. They are a bit more expensive but I highly recommend them due to the quality for the lights and the firm plastic that prevents them from being damaged. Yes definitely. The U7H is great for gaming. The 120Hz support is especially nice. You can plug it into your PC, PS5 or Xbox Series X/S and use that mode. The general entertainment such as Netflix and streaming also works well here. The only downside is the lack of Disney+. If you want Disney you'll have to get an Android box or Apple TV as this TV's VIDAA system doesn't have the app yet. But generally speaking, R10,999 is a bargain for what you get here.

@@gillleehahn7451 The HDR performance is good for its panel. Quite bright and covers 12-bit colour on 4K 60fps. 4K 120fps only uses 10-bit but you'll probably miss the difference. If you are playing a console, 120Hz games aren't used as often as 60hz ones so it isn't a huge issue.

I never got a chance to use the tv. It was lost twice in shipping, and when it finally made it to me, it was destroyed. Big hole in the screen, box ripped open and parts missing. Amazon didn't offer a replacement, the only option was to send it back, and the payment option was gone so I couldn't order another one.

Hi, I just bought the 65U7. I have a question. I removed the protection folie with the small cardboard on the side. There is still a full covered plastic folie on the entire screen. It can be removed from the upper right corner withe a small yellow label. The protection screen i am talking about can be seen through this whole video. Do i have to remove this plastic folie thats covering the entire screen? Is it neccesary to leave the cover? or is it better to remove?

I left mine on because it just protects the TV screen. it is meant to be removed but Hisense was collecting the TV so I didn't want to damage the screen. It doesn't impact the quality of the image at all. If you would rather have like a "screen protector" on your TV, I would say leave it on. That way, if it does get scratched or dirty, you can remove it at some point and have a clean and prestine screen haha.

My issue on 55 E7H during and when I open and close games on my PS5 the tv loses signal for a few seconds. Screen goes black and prompt appears hdmi signal lost. I’ve tested now 2 TVs and both do the same thing. On the 50” the screen goes black but no prompt appears that signal is lost. Any suggestions what is going on ? Thanks

I know my TV does this too because it is enabling and disabling VRR when launching and closing a game. Not sure if the E7H supports VRR but that might be the case. Other TVs also do this when kicking into a higher refresh rate. So when going from the home screen on the PS5 to a 120Hz game, the TV would flash on and off to change modes.

Dolby Vision won't show during PS5 playback because the console doesn't support Dolby Vision. If you try load a show on Netflix like One Piece or play a game on Xbox like Gears 5, you should see the sign appear showing Dolby Vision. But on PS5 that won't happen.

Sorry for the delay. It is a tough one. The stand is very anti-soundbar. This stand relies on a wide TV unit or perhaps consider mounting the TV and using the soundbar on the TV unit. You can also look at getting a third-party stand. I bought one for my Bravia. Installs on the wall mount holes. You get rotating ones and ones you can adjust the height of.

I do have a wide TV unit, the width is about 38cm's. Would sliding the soundbar under the tv legs work. Do you perhaps have the heightof the legs by any chance. It's just a pity Hisense went this route with the tv legs, it looks cool and everything but it's just not practical.

@@jonathankent4920 DSTV streams at 720p. It is going to look bad on a 4K TV regardless of what you do. No magic can upscale 720p to 4K and make it look good. If you watch a 4K KZbin, you'll see what the TV can really do with content made for the panel. You may want to increase some settings like Sharpness to maybe make things look better. Also, make sure the HDMI Signal Format for both HDMI 2.1 ports is set to Enhanced. However, even with that, DSTV won't look amazing but it is a start.

What gaming console are you trying to use to get the 4K 120Hz to work? Also, if local dimming and allm is disabled, chances are FreeSync is turned on. This disables ALLM and Local Dimming. But depending on your gaming device

@@neilbezuidenhout9284 Hmm I can't remember exactly what I used. It was a while back and I don't have the TV anymore (it was a review unit). But I usually do the same thing on all TVs. Reduce sharpening to 0 Disable all motion settings Disable Noise reduction Use a "warm" colour profile (I know Hisense likes blue colour profiles which are harsh) I used medium local dimming to keep prevent some loss in image quality. Also turned down the brightness by a notch to reduce the bloom I increased saturation slightly to give colour more life (but not too much) Make sure you enable Enhanced HDMI signal for gaming Backlight also set to the max. Hope this helps. I can say that you want to avoid the overly blue look Hisense uses. Even the unit I have now, the U80H, is way too blue even on "warm". Have to use "Warmer"

So I use a Sony X90H which isn't as bright as this TV and I still watch stuff and play games while the sun is coming in and it is still clear. I actually have my TV facing a window (I know not ideal). So this would definitely still be visible. You can some some shots in the video where I intentionally filmed it with the window on the TV to show the effect of the glare too.

@@Abduraghmaan17 The sound isn't the best tbh. You'll definitely want to get a soundbar for it. The TV speakers are okay and they are clear and punchy but don't have any sort of 3D sound effects and the output kind of comes out linear.

Sadly I don't think the SA models support AirPlay. They have the Apple TV app, which is new, but no AirPlay support. I didn't see it on any of the models I tested.

I purchased this Hisense U7H TV in December 2022, hoping for a top-of-the-line viewing experience. Unfortunately, my entire experience with this product and the customer service provided by Hisense has been nothing short of a nightmare. I encountered multiple issues with the eARC port, which is meant to provide seamless audio connectivity with my soundbar. However, instead of the promised convenience, I have been plagued with a never-ending series of problems. The eARC port constantly reverts to the TV speakers, necessitating manual intervention each time I power on the TV. It's incredibly frustrating to have to repeatedly toggle the eARC setting just to establish a proper connection with my soundbar. Seeking a resolution, I contacted Hisense customer service, hoping for assistance. What I received instead was a complete lack of responsiveness and a disheartening runaround. Their representatives were unable to provide effective solutions or even acknowledge the severity of the issue. It was clear that they were ill-equipped and lacked the necessary expertise to address the technical challenges I was facing. After enduring weeks of back-and-forth with Hisense, they finally sent repair agents to address the problem. Unfortunately, the repairs were ineffective, as the issues persisted even after multiple software updates and a motherboard replacement. It is astonishing that a supposedly reputable brand like Hisense is unable to resolve such basic technical issues with their flagship TV model. The overall quality and reliability of the Hisense U7H TV are questionable at best. I expected a premium product that would deliver on its promises, but instead, I have been left with a defective TV that has caused nothing but frustration and disappointment. It is disheartening to see how a brand can market their products as top-tier, only to deliver a subpar and dysfunctional experience to their customers. I strongly urge potential buyers to reconsider their decision to purchase the Hisense U7H TV. The issues I have encountered, coupled with the abysmal customer service, make it clear that Hisense is not committed to providing a satisfactory customer experience. Save yourself the headache and invest in a more reliable and reputable brand that stands behind their products and values customer satisfaction. I regret ever purchasing the Hisense U7H TV, and I hope my review serves as a warning to others who are considering this product. It has been an extremely disappointing experience, and I would strongly advise against supporting a brand that fails to deliver on its promises.

You should probably review the Toshiba Z770k (made by hisense in South Africa). Compared these 2 in shop and found I slightly preferred the Toshiba. It has a brighter screen and once in film maker mode colours are decent. There's a bit of edge light on solid colours but films/tv look stunning. Also of the tvs I looked at it was great at upscaling. Not terrible sound either and plays in sync nicely with my existing speakers. Probably has a few flaws but it was equivalent to the u7H in shop and far better than entry level qned. Same SOC as u7h and u8h so it actually is equivalent.

@@cuckerdsdxsc I went with the Toshiba. If i had 3k more you can get the hisense a8h oled or even the u8h off takealot. It's a great tv but I do notice blooming on more static images, I didn't really know to look for this and it's not made anything awful. When I was comparing to the u7h in store the win for me was the android interface and media controls. Also the upscaling seemed a tad better. Quite happy with it though. It also seems the Toshiba may have a few more local dimming zones, not sure, it matters a great deal. I didn't compare sound but the Toshiba speakers are good enough that I would not really need anything extra and it plays nicely with my bookshelf speakers.

@@chApmAn.. blooming and defects are there. So like a plain red screen you'll see some dirty screen effect and bright white on black does present some blooming. I have no regrets in terms of watching content, movies look great and anime looks fantastic. Another mybroadband user seems pretty happy with it for gaming. Today it's 7999 on takealot for that price it's hard to say no. Hopefully you like it. Edit: only caveat is if you really want oled and can afford circa 14k you can get an ok screen from hisense, i think.

I would definitely go for this if you're comparing the two. This one has a higher peak brightness, 120Hz support etc. Sony TVs are of course nice and premium but the X81J is quite far off from meeting the Hisense's specs. If you were to compare the X90J with this, then it would be a tougher sell.

Yes it definitely does. Hisense specifically worked on sports and motion features for this U7H because it is the official TV for the FIFA World Cup. Its motion features are a big selling point on this model.

MEMC 120hz : even i set in smooth setting i still see judder and motion lag at fast scenes eg: fights & songs .. etc Sport mode : the sport mode does not look like 120hz according to your advertisement . The sport mode is playing only in 60hz and very lag. If we set the option to smooth the cricket ball looks like multiple. AI upscale: As i can see pixels are very blur playing in 720p and 1080p videos on youtube. I hope these requirements can fix through software updates. Please value the customer feedbacks and give updates accordingly. Due to lack of software updates most of the people are not buying your products . Definitely. It packs FreeSync too which is great. It will disable local dimming if you decide to use FreeSync so keep that in mind. But in general, this TV is great for 4K120. The 65-inch provides the full resolution at 4K120 too.

The U7H is the 2022 model so it is definitely better than the U7G. Hisense follows the ABC release so next year's model will likely be U7J. The U7H has better peak brightness, 4K 120Hz support and more dimming zones. You'll want to get that model.

@@GLITCHEDZA Got the set, 65in. its OK but most content in SA (DSTV & Showmax) is of such poor quality that there are only a few Netflix titles and some 4K youtube videos of Gheko's, bees or Mediterranean house music beach scenes that really show off the capabilities of this UHD set. My 2009 Samsung 8 series 60Hz HD tv seems to do a better all-round tv watching job. But hey that's school fees for you. Any idea how to set up the tv to land on the Vida home page, at start right now it switches on to an empty HDMI 1 port. Btw the VIDA OS is also pretty crap when compared to the Android OS on say a Xaomi Mi box

@@mfields4120 Sadly VIDAA isn't great. I would just stick to an Android box for all content tbh. Sorry about the shoddy content. It might be due to the app version. Maybe try download DStv and Showmax on the Mi Box and see how it looks. I found that often the upscaling techniques on those boxes offer better visuals that the built-in apps on the VIDAA OS.

I checked my old 46inch HD TV coupled to the Mi box again last night and frankly no real difference in picture quality between most HD and UHD content. Hisense Dolby sound through my Polk mini soundbar is next level however.

I always prefer Google TV just because I can install whatever I want on it. However, VIDAA isn't bad and has some perks. It is safer, less buggy and a lot faster than Google TV. If you don't want to install your own apps then it will be okay. I kinda wish Google TV was as stable and fluid as VIDAA at times haha.

You need to change the HDMI format to Enhanced to enable the 2.1 functionalities. Not sure what OS version you have but look around in the settings for HDMI Signal Format and change it to "Enhanced".

@@GLITCHEDZA I've done all of the above and using standard HDMI that came with the PS5. Do I need a special HDMI cable? It's still running 4k 60Hz even though PS5 test says it's compatible with 120Hz

@@sanzthescorpion So the TV will only go into 120Hz mode when you play specific games that have support. For example, Destiny 2 only runs at 60Hz until you enter a PvP match. it then goes into 120Hz mode. So if the PS5 says it is supported, just play a game or enter a 120Hz mode to see it in action.
