Thanks for the review. My family helped get my the 75" U7N for my 82nd birthday late last month (August). The 75" version uses a different viewing panel (ADP), so some of the characteristics are different than the other sizes. The side-ish view is good, and even on an all-white/grey screen, no noticeable dirty screen effect. I have the newest set of Spears & Munsil disks and used my Sony 4k/HDR Blu-ray to calibrate. Calibration is important. The biggest issue with this size is that no one who has a 75" has posted recommended settings for the ADP panel. Overall, for my old eyes, it is near OLED in contrast. I use an Ethernet connection, not Wi-Fi, but I find the Google TV experience a bit slow in response, and the ATSC-3 tuner just okay. Streaming apps do well with the exception of the TABLO-TV app (I use the Tablo Gen-4 for DVR recording). The fallback for the Tablo is to have a Roku device, it always works.

I got the U7K after seeing your reviews on the U7H and saving up money until the "K" dropped and it's seriously a game changer if you've only had super budget tv's all your life. I've never had anything with good contrast ratio or brightness and having both in the same tv is purely stunning. It is as big of a difference as going from 1080p to 4k for my gaming/content enjoyment.

I picked up the 55" set 2 months ago at $599. The panel I have does have some dirty screen effect, but it's a secondary TV for me and for the kids. In gaming mode, I don't even notice it, and the 120Hz performance along with Dolby Vision gaming is really what sold me on this TV. It's a great value gaming TV.

I was trying to get an OLED monitor for my PC. But they are pretty expensive where I live. I heard about this TV and decided to buy one to use it as a PC monitor. The picture quality is excellent, it cost me a fraction of an OLED monitor and I don't have to worry about image burning. 10/10 for me.
@wombat5252

First of all, OLED monitors are expensive EVERYWHERE. second, OLED is so much better compared to these sh** HiSense LED panels. If you can't notice the massive difference and you actually think the picture quality is good compared to an OLED, you're blind. Burn in isn't happening an ymore either because of the better technology. Stop leaving it on static images, it's really simple anyways.

Thanks for all the good, practical information. Based on this video and extensive research over the last month, I just placed an order with Costco for a 75" U7N. I'm very excited as it will replace my 8 yr. old 48" Sony (which has been great). Many, if not most, of the retailers have announced their Black Friday prices, which I've been waiting for. I got it for $900, which seems pretty good. I chose Costco over BB because BB wanted $190 for a 3 yr warranty and Costco included a 5 yr warranty for free, and Costco's very liberal return policy. So now I'm on pins and needles until it gets here later this week.

LCD panels are known for poor off angle viewing, though ADS panels are better. The 75” U7N and U8N use ADS panels and are better off angle than the VA panels on the other sizes. I believe some tv’s are treated so that they are a bit better off angle. If you need good off angle viewing, you should consider an OLED tv or at least an ADS lcd panel, though its not as good as OLED.

@@Abhi_0893 Keep in mind that one bad TV doesn't make all of them trash. For one person who’s had a lemon, there are many who have been happy with their unit for years. Even companies that have great reputations for many years need customer service departments because there are problems with their products. I would expect fewer problems on average with Sony tv’s, but you pay a lot more for them. I saw a video by a tech, showing how the electronics inside a Hisense U8N was much better than from previous years. Just like the older companies, they are upping their quality too.

The wifi issue seems to be across most of their tv's along with a sound issue. The sound issue is not the sound itself but how it interfaces with amps. When you change the volume the icon shows on the tv but it does not tell you what volume it's at. Neither of these is a deal breaker or major but given how slow they are with updates a fix is likely going to be a long time coming or not at all.

Thanks for this review! DSE is one of the main reasons holding me back from buying a new TV since my 2018 Samsung does not suffer from it at all. My 2018 Samsung actually just died yesterday, and I'm sort of glad it did, because the DSE was pretty bad, just not quite bad enough to get me to spend money on a new TV. Now that it's dead, I'm glad it is, because I have an excuse to get a new TV. Even if this TV does have some, I can't imagine it'll be any worse than it was on my Samsung, and all the other upgrades will make up for it.

Let me tell you as someone who has had a first gen QM8 for over a year now. I'll never buy another TCL TV. Yes the picture is nice. However their firmware is trash. It's constantly having issues where it keeps the internal speakers on when there is a soundbar present. The interface is laggy and sometimes the TV just doesn't want to turn the screen on. I understand the "value" but the value disappears when the TV doesn't behave itself. Never again.

Interestingly, for better or worse the TV has Vidda for an OS here in Australia. Quick setup with no updates and doesn't have that Wi-Fi dropping bug. So can’t complain. The really cool thing is we get two remotes. Standard battery one and a rechargeable solar one. It made it feel like a luxury TV. Upgrades from a 2016 Samsung, so what you said about being impressed with this for gaming went double for me.

Caleb I thank you for your video matching up with rtings review. Not mentioned are the number of local dimming zones. Every TV size isn't the same. With the 75" the top number is 512 LDZ. This is why you get so much DSE out of the box & with vignetting in the corners from what rtings observed from their TV. With Rtings their score numbers are very close with the U8N to the U7N. The U8N is just a much better buy for what you get over U7N. Especially with Dolby Atmos speakers that might also be a bigger difference. Plus you get more colors from the U8N. At least with miniled you still get more LDZ over Vizio M-series from their regular size led LDZ. With the firmware update nobody is mentioning having to unplug it and plug it back in so that an improvement.

I own the 75" version of the U8K. When you turn the "Mini-LED" feature to "Low" all your blacks will be incredibly black similar to an OLED - even if you turn the Brightness all the way up to 100. The RTINGS review is based on turning "Mini-LED" to "High," which is not what you want to do for Movies. Turning the "Mini-LED" to "High" produces the "Vivid" look and is what should be used for Sports and programs where there is not black on the screen.

I picked up a 65" U7N at BB last week for $799. Even with the optional 5 year BB warranty, the TV still came in at a bit less than it's normal price of $1099 with only the standard factory warranty. Though I'm not a full fledged nit-nerd, I am a more discriminating viewer, having been spoiled by two OLEDs. So here's my two word review. "I'm impressed." 'Nuff said. Go get one if you're looking for a very bright, great contrast, budget friendly bang for the buck TV that acts like it's too big for it's britches.

I have last years model, and as much as I am impressed with the TV, I'd likely not buy another Hisense model because in the UK they use their own Vidaa OS, and even as someone who doesn't use the smart features at all, I find the UI a pain, and next time around will likely look at TCL.

Just got a 100" U76N last week. Purchased for 2199 over labor day. Prices swing pretty high on this one. It's pretty amazing. I'm not seeing any DSE so I guess I got lucky there but he is right about the off angle color fidelity. You really want to be in the middle of the view. It's not horrible and not so much a problem at 100". I have an 85" Samsung and it doesn't have that same issue. Other than that the TV is great and I'm very happy with it.

I had purchased this in a 55inch recently. It has a production flaw that is making me consider returning it. There seems to be a vertical dent/dip in the outer layer of the screen. It can only be seen at extreme angles (175degrees+) with the screen off, catching the reflective glare. No obvious effect on the screen when viewing. Other than that the screen is really clean. Will this dent potentially cause long term problems? Should I return/exchange if more stock comes in?

Hi Caleb, I'm trying to figure out which Hisense model to buy. I have an option between the 65U8N, 75U8N or the 85U7N. I initially thought 65 inches was something I'd get but after looking at screen sizes in stores, it just seems like bigger is better. That ADS panel on the 75U8N has got me worried but based on numbers it out performs the U7N except for contrast. What would you recommend?

We invest in a new TV about every 5 years. Think we will go with OLED LG. Higher price point for sure but if you for divide incremental cost over 5 year period, the minimal amount makes sense for our family. Plus, I hate kicking myself wondering if I should have stepped up from the U7 or U8. Your appreciated for all you do!

Nice choice. Have a C2 83” that I bought in 2023 and received a huge discount, otherwise I’d have gone with the 77” as well. The 83”, at normal pricing is like $2k more. That’s about $334 per inch for each inch over 77”. That is crazy. The B series is so over looked, u get almost everything the C or G has at a much lower price.

Great video I also saw your video on Amazon. I will be back to update you. I’m gonna connect my PC to it. I have a latency reader on my PC so I will update this review. You pointed out some very important aspects a lot most people won’t even notice but for the price and 144 Hz, 16:41 you can’t go wrong. I would rather have an LG that’s what my gaming monitor is LG ultra gear 32 inch nano IPS but this one has AMD sync and my PC runs off of a AMD processor so we’ll see how far I can push the frames. I have mine capped at 144 because anything faster I get dizzy but my graphics card will push over 200 frames. It’s a 4060 Asus 8 gigabyte. Again, really enjoyed this review and I feel confident with my purchase fingers crossed for the delivery.

Thank you for this review! 👍This seems to be a really nice TV, but I missed the motion handling related info, dear Caleb... Could you please say some words on it too?🙏 BTW... to me while watching movies or TV the only dealbreaker is sitting off angle... 🤣 (So really... the bad viewing angle does not matter at all.) But I wonder if the DSE you experienced is due bad handling at the storage, or during shipping, or really a typical issue of these Hisense models... 🤔I suppose time will tell. (As more and more reviews will be available.)

Yeah, it’s odd because I thought I had covered the motion and on review of the video it isn’t in there. I have had NO complaints about motion on this TV so far. There is some stutter in low framerate content due to the super fast pixel response time, but it isn’t as jarring as OLED
@SoldierOfSunrise

@@Caleb_Denison , thank you, that sounds good! 😎I have a SONY OLED, but as it seems after only 2,5 years its CPU went wrong, I start to believe that brand (as the definition of "quality") does not matter at all. The times of the "undestructable" televisions are unfortunately over. And for quite a while I've been keeping my eyes open on the Hisense televisions. Regardless its flaws, the 65U8QF was a pretty decent television (especially for the price), and the Hisense FALD models improved a lot since then. So maybe I'm going to return to the LCD line again, cause with good quality Mini LED TVs, the picture quality is no issue, and now the high contrast and great black levels are also available. BTW... do you happen to know, please, why Hisense in their recent U7/8 lineup uses ADS panels at the 75 inch screen size?

If it's anything like my Hisense then the eArc doesn't work properly. Oh and then when you get frustrated and try optical out to your soundbar you find out from Reddit that Hisense has an issue with sending a optical signal to a soundbar. And that's after my 120Hz TV has only ever ran at 60Hz. Cool Hisense.
