Thanks for making videos on Australian TV market. Both TCL and Hisense seem to do the same thing, like having same name as US counterparts and providing inferior specs. To add to that, generally we don't find any review for Australian versions and we end up getting a TV without complete info. So thanks once again for your videos.

Total agreed with the review. The problem with this TV is that it has not been calibrated from the factory. I spent hours just to get a baseline image. My suggestion for a baseline is: Local Dimming - Low Backlight - 60 Brightness - 36 Contrast - 50 Colour -25 Sharpness - 0 Adaptive Contrast - Low Clear Motion - Off Noise Reduction - Off Mpeg Noise Reduction - Off You can then make small adjustments to fine-tune the picture to your liking. Also, the sound is below par especially given that this is their flagship. As the sound is so poor, investing in a sound bar is compulsory rather than optional. The TV is no longer cheap if the sound bar is included. I also purchased the TCL C825 and this is a much better TV in terms of attention to detail, quality material and finishing, OS and sound. You can tell that TCL took pride in making the C825....can't say the same for Hisense. The U9G feels like a middle-of-the-range TV .....definitely not a flagship. The VIDAA OS is also subpar compared to Android TV. This TV needs a firmware update due to the poor image quality straight out of the bo Its ok purchase you can get for AUD$1200 or less.

I just ordered a 75" U9hau for just over $2k. Looked amazing in the showroom (I know, they all do). I know its a different model but this review has made me nervous. The only other Aus review I've seen for Hisense is from Cybershack but its on the U8hau. They said U8 was decent but mentioned in that review that the u9hau was far superior and a worthwhile upgrade. Was trying to get hold of a TCL C835 but seems to be very limited availability at present. unable to get one in my area (NT). Fingers crossed the U9hau is a lot better than the prior model...

@Veg71
@Veg71 Жыл бұрын
@@clintonmorris1945 It does bloom a bit on high brightness settings but only on a totally black screen. can be eliminated with settings but its really not bad enough to worry unless you are reading a heap of white text on black screen. Its fine for movie subtitles etc. Noticed some banding on some colours but I think that may be a sampling/compression issue. Also seems worse on Dolby Vision so using 4k HDR (on AppleTV 4k box) and its seems pretty good. I had some initial reservations when it first arrived but I think they were more to do with my preconceptions based on reviews. I just dont notice any issues at all anymore. I consider myself 'knowledgeable' enough to notice these things but not 'videophile' enough to be worried about them. Its really good for movies and sports (I watch a fair bit of football). Very bright and good in well lit rooms but also movies with the lights off. I have teamed it with a Samsung q990b sound bar and I think its a great all-round setup.

@@andihelessthanthou I'm honestly happy with it, especially for the price I paid. I don't expect it to compete against OLEDs with their superior contrasting. The HDR on it is decent, tested it with some dark The Witcher scenes (S2E1 intro) and you can see detail in the darkness. The off-angle blooming as highlighted in the video is noticeable if you're really off-angle to the screen but if you're in front of it, it's a non-issue. I have the TV in a darker room, generally lights kept off/curtains closed

@@ILT_AU that's why I wanted to grab one to play with and compare with other brand name TVs of the same price and some higher end models in real world use (not a showroom with cherry picked demo footage) i have 8 TVs in the house of varying size and spec from budget to top of the line (well, last years models at least). I really just want to measure the peak brightness to compare to the US variants and look at it's blooming behavior and black levels. I already know it's motion and noise processing is going to be lacking, but they only become issues with lower quality content like broadcast TV anyway. if I don't think it's worth the current on-sale asking price of $2400-2600 AU for the 75" compared to the competition at that size i'll return it.

I bought a Hisense U9HAU 65" just over a month ago and it has a fixed bloom at the bottom of the TV when a Movie or TV show has the black bars on it. It's very noticeable and annoying at the same time. You are spot on about the blooming when looking at the screen even from a slight angle in regard to both Netflix and Prime apps......fucking terrible. The other night it started to play up and two uneven bands developed across the middle and bottom of the screen which made the picture in those areas have a green tinge to it. Wish I never bought it now. Funny thing though, I watched this video before I bought it.

Hi ILT. Hope all is well. 👍 I suspected that the U9G would have a ADS , ( an IPS variant, ) panel in Australia and your review seems to confirm this. BUMMER!! 👎 Just like you I advocated Australian Hisense TVs, I have a 2019 R8 65" which has a great picture at it's excellent value price point, but their adoption of ADS panels ie very poor contrast compared to VA panels and their refusal to publish that their panel type, in the U8G, ( no U9G in the US, ) is actually different to to North American U8G spec leaves a bad taste in my mouth! As a result I am unlikely to purchase a Hisense TV in the future. Please note that Hisense do publish that the TV has a refresh rate of 60 Hz at 4k not 120 on their website and in their specs. Best wishes with your channel and thx for the informative video on the U9G. Take care. 🍻

Thank you so much. Yeah I still have my 85” R8 as well as a 85Q8 and they both still stay strong. If you look back one of my first reviews was my 85R8. These TVs leave them for dead compared to the U9G. So disappointing. Not sure why the USA, EU and AUS all get such different panels every year. My Hisense 100S8 honestly shocked me how good it is. Hisense have put out some solid TVs I personally feel it’s their first attempt at mini-led and perhaps they need more time. I would take Hisense any day over TCL. Wow I’ve had major problems with TCL and their disgusting customer support.

Hey man. I have not. I went straight for the flagship assuming it would be killer. I actually have a feeling the U8G might possibly be better as it’s a FALD TV. @@ILT_AU 65", VA panel, $2000 -$2500. At the moment this might mean TCL 825, Sony X90J. Samsung 85 and 80 are ADS. For the price of Samsung QN90A I'd buy OLED. LG LCD is IPS. LG C1 have been discounted recently and I may extend the budget. Or just stay with the R8 until something better comes along.

Today I went to a store to look at TV's (Europe) and they tried to sell me a Hisense U8GQ... of course where the Tv was displayed at there as a lot of light on that particular spot in the room, with a very strong light above/front, which I suspect is there on purpose to mask some of these issues that we see on dark rooms. I saw some traces of blooming and crushed dark colors, that I suspected that lost definition but with all the extra light in the room was hard to see the darkest parts of the screen and properly judge these 2 flaws. To add on that, I also feared it would have motion problems, as some reviewers observed. I'm finding it really hard to trust Hisense TV's this year, the price was inviting, but i'll avoid it and look elsewhere.
@kennyzraht5804
@kennyzraht5804 2 жыл бұрын
they don't have to mask anything, or put it anywhere. In shops TVs have demo footage running, which are designed especially to flatter their strong points and hide vulnerabilities. I bought one of those and I have noticed the blooming problem. Until they'll do something around it with a firmware update, I noticed it can be tweaked with the brightness, and contrast levels. But, yes, one can see it's a budget TV. When we bought Hisense, we knew we're not getting a Samsung, or LG or Sony. Expect budget quality.
@Skeware
@Skeware 2 жыл бұрын
@@kennyzraht5804 I also know that there is no such thing as a perfect TV and if we buy budget we should expect budget. But I disagree with you about what the shops have on because here where I live the best shops (with one exception that I know of in Lisbon) really suck at displaying TV's, most of the time they just put on whatever signal they have, many times it's as low as regular TV channel at 720p. Only the high end TV's have the best demos running. but sometimes even the best ones are displaying the bad signal stuff or the crappy corporate video from the store itself. So, taking your comment in consideration, their tactic depends on country or region. What I said about this place where they tried to sell me this Hisense is real, and I'm still pretty sure that placing that TV in that particular spot of that shop wasn't a random decision.

Whizzman · 19 days ago Be Careful....Lots of calibration required The review on youtube is true for the Australian model. The tv is not calibrated at factory and needs be to calibrated by you. Can hard if there is not base line to work from. After many hours, here is my recommendation for a base line. You can then make small adjustments from the base line to get your own custom viewing. The biggest problem with this tv is brightness, white and black - hard to get the right balance between the three - refer to the commentary on the youtube review. Local Dimming - Low Backlight - 60 Brightness - 36 Contrast - 50 Colour - 25 Sharpness - 0 Adaptive Contrast - Low Clear Motion - Off Noise Reduction - Off Mpeg noise Reduction - Off Also the sound is terrible. You need to invest in a sound bar. I also bought the TCL C825.....this is a much better TV....from a built quality, picture quality and sound perspective. The Hisense feel cheap and lacking in attention to detail. Lastly, the OS on the TCL is much better than Hisense VIDAA. This TV feels rushed to market and firmware update is definitely needed.
