No spoilers. I just love the little details in the voice acting. Killua's tone of voice changed into that of an innocent little kid when Kastro caught him spying and he changed back to his regular voice after he knew he was figured out. Little details like that just make the Japanese dub for me and will always be a few step ahead of the English dub.
@manumaster19905 жыл бұрын
Totally agree!
@WestonEvans5 жыл бұрын
I watch the English dub with Japanese subs. Granted I haven’t yet seen the sub but I just love the dub way too much to give it a go. The dub adds this extra layer of exposition that isn’t present in the sub. And while it might not be exactly canon, it definitely helps me understand the story that much better. Plus the dub voices are the A-team. Not a single mismatch or weird choice on the lineup. Like the Japanese voices are cute at the end of each episode when they do the hunter encyclopedia, but I’m too attached to the dub to make sub my go-to HxH medium. At least for now.
@Yusuku5 жыл бұрын
@@WestonEvans I fully rewatched the series in the English dub and it's really inferior imo. It just feels lifeless compared to the A-class voice performances in the original. And I don't hold onto the bias of what I've seen first. I've for example seen the Japanese FMA03 and FMAB versions first because rewatching FMAB in English and I REALLY LOVED the English FMAB version. And that was while already loving FMA03 and FMAB in Japanese and having watched FMA03 since 2008 and being exposed to FMAB in English all the way in 2016 or something. I give it all a fair shot and HxH in English is just weak imo. Too literal of translations that feel very static with the lip flaps and very vanilla performances all around. There's way more emotion in the Japanese dub with way more adlibs and more colorful storytelling.

Hisoka's ability is so flexible. It doesn't matter at all if everyone knows about them or not, he's gonna win cause he's crazy smart and strong. That's why he goes around telling people about it all the time to lull them into a false sense of ease. The battle is set from the start. When you're done watching the anime I recommend that you go read the manga and see another one of Hisoka's awesome fights. No spoilers plz.

The tropes from YYH, seem so played out nowadays. Dont know if it would work.
@emrahoztek36625 жыл бұрын
@@lurkingposter Well, that's why it would be cool if they would modernised it. Even though YYH is way more classical than HxH, its writing is still good for the most part. People seem to dislike the very first slice of life episodes, but I think they're really great. Is when Yusuke meets Hiei and Kurama till Dark tournement, that it starts to be a generic shounen, but from there upwards is great. But mostly it stands out thanks to the characters and their amazing chemistry (which I prefered compared to HxH, and I think is because the characters are in the same age group or they're displayed like it. In HxH, they're is an imbalance between Gon-Killua and Kurapika-Leorio). However, the series got all those "Oh no! How did he do that!" moments, characters standing there and not moving when attacked, and unnecessary drama effects that I would like to be removed.

Hunter x Hunter is probably the best at the kind of fighting that I like the most: creative applications of abilities. When you start abusing secondary and tertiary properties of a power, side effects and after effects, playing mind games and setting up traps. That to me is the best of what shounen can offer. We got to see how nen battles are first and foremost a mental battle. How can you play mind games and optimize your tool kit. Also making sure that your kit is actually beneficial. Kage bunshin sounds awesome on paper, but as we saw, it is probably impossible to sustain in a life or death battle.

Kastro decided to specialize in an Ability that was made of Manipulation and Conjuration when he was an Enhancer. That's why Hisoka said he lost. This applies to real life as well. If you have no talent for something you'll be the best no matter how you try at it. He should've just focused on his Enhancer abilities and become a monster in his own right. Instead he let his desire for revenge against Hisoka run its course and started to dabble in magic tricks. Unfortunately, half-baked magic skills mean nothing in front of a Master like Hisoka. This fight is one of the first Nen fights HxH and people forget how devious and barbaric it is.
