The 2016 election was, in a lot of ways, the election that looked to me to be the most affected by online rhetoric and dialogue. If you can call what happens online dialogue. I thought that Trump's henchmen would spend the last 4 years really looking at what it is they did that turns so many people off. The right wing has never liked or supported non-white folks, women, or lgbtq people. There has always been antipathy there in my lifetime. Cue my surprise when JD's candidacy was met with the release of all of these podcasts and interviews where he pretty much beloviated about how "DEI" americans are like pathogens in the system. But the reality is, the majority of us, women and pocs work and spend money like good little capitalists! Then, he ends up being an agent for the heritage foundation and puts the pedal to the metal on his hostility toward women who prioritize career/education before having a family. Someone needs to tell the heritage foundation and federalist society that American women live and work in the real world. We understand intuitively that bouncing us out of the workforce to provide uncompensated caregiving (whether it's for minor children or aging family members) will tank the economy. Hell, I know a lot of educated women with careers who want to be able to leave the workforce for at least a little while to provide care for their infants and toddlers, but housing and healthcare are too costly for them to just bail on that. I just don't see how these guys think they're going to win elections by unmasking themselves as people who think that, if you are female or not white, you are some kind of mooch.
