This is where I come after our anatomy professor just verbally abused the whole group for the xˋd time in just 3 weeks, claiming we donˋt study hard enough. Histology truly is my remedy. I may fail anatomy (at least my professor clearly want the whole group to fail) but histology is now secured. Lovely put together for a broken first-year medical student. Cheers.

She meant to say simple columnar’s function is absorption and secretion, NOT simple cuboidal, in case that threw someone off. Simple cuboidal’s function is only secretion. No absorption.
@AnatomyHero
@AnatomyHero 2 жыл бұрын
That IS what I meant to say... I have since learned though that simple cuboidal DOES do absorption as well (during urine formation in the kidney tubules) but that's such an unnecessary level of details for intro histology! Simple columnar is highly specialized for absorption so it makes sense to learn it the way you described above.

Can u do a bone and ossification video please
@AnatomyHero
@AnatomyHero 2 жыл бұрын
I will be honest, ossification is my least favorite topic in physiology (I just don't find it as interesting as other things) so I probably won't get to it for a loooonggg time... But here are some other videos that I think do a good job. Endochondral ossification: www.pearson.com/channels/anp/asset/ff66f28e/endochondral-ossification Bone lengthening via endochondral ossification: www.pearson.com/channels/anp/asset/d9175698/bone-elongation-processes-at-the-epiphyseal-plate Most ossification is endochondral, but your collarbones and skull (except for the mandible) are formed via intramembranous ossification (the bones start as dense irregular connective tissue instead of cartilage as seen in endochondral ossification) I didn't immediately find a good video about intramembranous ossification, but I'm sure it exists!

Why does qseudostradified columnar look kinda like the simple one
@AnatomyHero
@AnatomyHero 2 жыл бұрын
Hm, I'm not really sure because to me they do not look alike...but they *are* both columnar so perhaps that's where you're seeing the similarity. The main difference is in the pseudostratified there are multiple layers of nuclei (the nuclei in the short cells are close to the bottom and the nuclei in the tall cells are closer to the top) and often (although not always) the psedostratified has cilia. Also the tall psedostratified cells columnar cells are thinner and less straight compares to the the simple columnar which looks like piano keys.
@walter-yt8mu
@walter-yt8mu 2 жыл бұрын
@@AnatomyHero like if you look further down the single layer (the gland one i think)of columnar cells it looks almost as if it was stratified but thx btw this will help me so much for bio2

@@walter-yt8mu hmmm... If you give me a timestamp I might know better what you mean because it sort of sounds like you're talking about simple cuboidal rather than simple columnar
@AnatomyHero
@AnatomyHero 2 жыл бұрын
@@walter-yt8mu also I'm just now realizing you might be thinking of examples like the first one I showed where there are two SINGLE layers of simple columnar. You can tell they aren't part of the same layer because each layer is next to an open space...and attached to a basement membrane
@walter-yt8mu

@@oi7232 If I were to talk about everything, I could speak for hours and hours. Every educator will leave out information, because not all information is relevant to the students they are teaching. As a student who is using online resources that are not specific to your class, it is your job to understand the specific requirements as outlined by the professor teaching your course. If you want the complete information that is appropriate for your course, you should be referencing the original lecture your professor gave, and the textbook. If you do not already, I would recommend recording your professor's lectures.
