@JPMClientHosting2 жыл бұрын
According to the lore, Haytham's son Ratonhnhaké:ton is of Mohawk decent, which is part of the Iroquois confederacy. He is later named Connor after joining the Assassins. There is another scene in the game where Connor talks to Benjamin Franklin and Franklin talks about the pursuit of liberty and freedom and Connor replies, "Says the man who owns a slave." Assassin's Creed did not let American history off the hook in this game. Hopefully Gameology makes another video of AC3 for this historian to react to.

@Orobas honestly i idolize Franklin to a degree. I don't think he was a bad person but i do think he would be if he suddenly got revived and had to love in today's world. I doubt even he'd be able to adapt to such radical change. (imo) Historical figures shouldn't get a free pass because our morals have changed although we shouldn't judge them as harshly as we would a modern day person doing the same thing. I look at him owning a slave as a similar transgression to being *accidently* and *unwittingly* abusive to a child under their care. This is because the slave was totally reliant on the man to survive and was legally there property just like children are today. It's not an exact analog but close enough to hopefully explain what i mean. Even if he never hurt them physically being treated as someone else's property is mentally damaging. I don't really blame him just like i don't totally blame my uncle for being unable to open up about his feelings. I never said i thought bad of the man anyway. He did amazing things and was a visionary of his time. If i lived back then I'd probably think him wildly progressive and insane at best. Now i seem his as old and outdated. It natural.

AC3 was odd. It tried to be cortical and balanced but also had to introduce a cartoonishly evil character in Haytham's patsy. Meanwhile it tried to maintain both the more personal features of the US founders while also maintaining their decorum and stiffness. It felt like a weird stage play of American history than actual characters emoting.

She's awesome but the early parts of AC3 aren't the most well-integrated with the time period's history. I hope she'll be reacting to latter parts of the game that are set in more significant events in the Revolution, like Revere's ride or some of the huge battles that Connor gets caught in the middle of, so we get to see her perspective on how the game ties those events with the Assassin vs Templar fiction.

As a person who is fascinated with history, Assassins Creed games always tickles my fancy. The Hashashin and Richard the Lionheart in ACI, The Borgias in AC: Brotherhood, Ottomans and Suleiman the Great in AC: Revelation, The Founding Fathers in AC: III, The Rogues Gallery of Pirates in AC: Black Flag, The French Revolution in AC V, Victorian Era London in AC Syndicate, the Peloponnesian Wars in AC Odyssey were all like amazing easter eggs for a history enthusiast like myself and I am sure many others. Can't wait to see AC Mirage as it looks like to be set in the Golden Age of Islam during the Harun Al-Rasyid Caliphate in Baghdad with the fictitious One Thousand and One Nights as its mystical backdrop.

While a little light on the historical commentary, I kinda enjoyed this one. I also liked how she alluded to the real Knight's Templar and how they used their influence to help shape things from the shadows, which is less and less to what the Assassin's Creed series began to do after this game, I think; and started leaning HEAVILY into the supernatural/superscience aspect of it.

I avoided this game in the franchise out of sheer spite after I'd learned that Ubisoft cut my city of Philadelphia from the main city line-up due to being 'too boring' for free running. I was infuriated how once again Philly was given the cold shoulder even during the time when the city actually mattered the most. But then I got over my nonsense and ended up playing and loving the game. Philadelphia does make an appearance - well, the interior of Independence Hall - and I actually have a save file that I quit while Connor's there so that the loading screen shows Philadelphia as the location. I know, it's a sickness of mine. The only other gripe I have is that the women are all wearing caps when in reality American women in major cities, particularly New York and Philadelphia and even Boston, would have followed a similar fashion theme as Europe. Hell, Marie-Antoinette's 'Pandora' dolls made their way here.
