But these games lack the visuals, sounds, effects, etc, that bf1 has. So despite the many nonsensical aspects of bf1, it actually feels like ww1 way more compared to games that are more accurate.

Battlefield 1 to this day is my gold standard for a historically accurate game. The places, equipment, operations and themes are rooted in reality even if they didn't directly exist while the gameplay characters and missions are fantastical and exaggerated to make it engaging. The most impressive part to me is how good they incorporated historically accuracy into the multiplayer of the game and for players truly interested in history they have included an extensive codex that has tons of highly accurate information. Playing battlefield 1 won't make you particularly knowledgeable about WW1, but it can easily make you more than interested enough to go out of your way to end up learning tons.

- The Webley was the standard revolver sidearm of the British military but it wasn't a general "must have or you get court marshaled" for the officer corp. Back during WWI, it is still a open field for officers to pick what sidearm they wanted to bring as a personal defense weaponry into battle as they want as long as it went pass their own officers as sidearms, back then, were still paid using your own pockets thus you're free to carry what pistol you want into battle. In fact, the general British troop didn't even scorn at the Mauser C96s because soo many British officer would actually love it and use it extensively due to it being 10 rounds instead of the regular 6 which was extremely vital when it comes to trench warfare. - The chivalry code in the air is absolutely correct. However, the color on the plane thing, not really as that only happened for the German side and especially for the Red Baron's platoon, the Jagdgeschwader I which was named as the "Flying Circus" or "Richthofen's Circus" cuz they're the only squadron in the entire field to have colorful planes and due to them often always staying in set up tents, they look like a bunch of circus performers. The whole color thing was only for Richthofen's unit whereas the other JGs don't have this criteria. Also, the bomber could be the Caudron G.4 which is both a twin-boom design and also, twin-engined and used as a bomber and recon plane by the the French air force, the "Service Aeronautique" - The Villar-Perosa was a bitch of a gun to use and despite the Arditi liking it alot, they too realized the limitations that with two guns stuck together, they burn thru ammo quicker and with that, they now have to carry even more ammo which defeats their purpose. Not only that, there's no effective way of aiming it which, again, defeats the purpose of a gun so they decided to ask around and see what company has a solution and two companies came up with effectively the same solution, adding stock to the gun but this time, splitting the Villar-Perosa into two guns instead of one and that spawned the OVP and the legendary Beretta M1918 which was also used in the mission. The OVP would see limited use whereas the Beretta saw more usage by the Arditi and they loved it alot. The M1918 would go on to serve the Italian military as late as the fall of Italy in 1945.

They were implemented on Mark II's and III's, but phased out from IV's and V's, as they had little impact on performance. Their inclusion on Big Bess is likely just a design choice. I like to think during the Avanti Savoia campaign that the narrator is again an unreliable one. The story is again told in past tense by a narrator whom you play as, though this time to his daughter rather than to the player. There's a part that stuck with me, one where his daughter expresses that she is worried simply hearing the story for the danger he had to face, to which he responds with something like "Don't worry! I was in a... a full suit of armor." Since you're playing as him while he narrates the story, it seems to imply that the crazy high HP your main character has simply by wearing that metal armor suit is not only a gameplay contrivance but also a narrative tool used to demonstrate the character's intent to "soften" the story for his daughter and not to frighten her. There's also the other exaggerations like the section where he somehow singlehandedly takes down like a dozen planes, survives a direct explosion, and wields a massive machine gun that he fires fully standing and mows down dozens of enemies. In other words, we play the embellished version of historical events that the character invented to make the story easier to tell to his daughter.
@fallout06242 ай бұрын
Every one fits into the unreliable narrator every one of them is a story, the exceptions being Through the Mud and Blood and Storms of Steel those two are flashbacks or nightmares, which keeps the unreliable narrator aspect but makes it so it's not intentionally being changed.

There was an event in a WW2 Video-Game once where despite different Animations, Sounds and Appearances all of the gear between Allies and Axis, The two were identical stats wise, But the sheer BEEF of the allied gear made their players so much more confident, It scewed things in their favour. So giving us a "PewPew" Mauser that, while in real life was equally as lethal, But in game terms isnt the "BANG!!! BANG!!!" Of a big-heck off Revolver, It probably to help us feel more out of our Element, smaller gun, less noise, Much more like a freshly recruited driver stumbling through the fog and woods trying not to get shot, Instead of badass action-man hero.

Ottomans didn't have any flamethrowers in ww1. I totally understand that it exists in multiplayer but they shouldn't have added it for the campaign for Gallipoli.

This is the last great BF game, or for that matter, the last BF game made with most of the original developers. After this game, it's all downhill. By the by...great work on this content.

this comment is to address the "Friends in high places" being fiction I think not I think it is a mixed story between the arizona balloon buster Frank Luke Jr. who was known to not listen to superiors and would even fly his plane without orders on occassion who became famous for his unique knack for destroying observation balloons of which in a 17 day period between september 12 to the 29th he took down 14 and John Theodore Cuthbert Moore-Brabazon Who Pioneered Aerial Photography for reconnaissance purposes and became famous for flying a plane upside down for higher quality more "top down" pictures although the truth of this fact is debated.

Lesser known fact that even germany has not wanted to admit at the time, Woman in the German army were in the military in the trenches as medical staff. A "nomads land medic" Was a sub part when the time was needed. Their job was to grab wounded from nomads land during a battlefield attack or more commonly just after a attack of both sides during rest time. I know this becuse my great great grandmother was alive and was in the german army on the western front from 1914 to 1918 in the red cross. She be in the hospitals during the Spanish influenza virus from 1918-1923. She was stationed near the village of Longueval, then later between combles and grinchy. Those were the times of the war she was in the front lines in combat. Sence you know history, maybe you can place this Time line?

The history in all the missions is poor. But the Gallipoli one is just insultingly bad. Giving Helles to the ANZACs when they were nowhere near it. Helles also looks nothing like it does in the game. The geography is almost completely made up. I've been there and walked the ground. Still puzzling over where these mountain ranges came from
