Platinum maybe ready to take off! It's about time! Another thing platinum has going for it is that it works better than palladium in hydrogen fuel cell applications due to its density! In the future, I don't see a lot of electric cars, but rather more less polluting Hydrogen cars. Our electrical infrastructure is not sufficient enough to support EV's.

If platinum had a huge history of being a money metal it would feel better to buy it. As it stand right now inwill be focusing on gold and silver. Some people stack copper as well but i wont be doing that as it doesn't hold enough value and its hard to liquidate outside of taking it to a junk yard and letting them pay you spot basically.

platinum has diminishing returns, even as a "store of wealth". my lcs sells it sometimes and the buy sell spread is terrible. They only buy it back at spot or less even if it is a eagle. I had the worst time selling the 10th oz i had. almost no one would buy it. took a loss never buying it again.

Platinum is on the Government’s critical materials list and may become an issue in the next 10 years. Staying diversified if I can, buying and holding when around $925 per oz (maples or Brits). Target is 5-10 oz max in the stack.

I mostly stack Gold and Silver but I like the Palladium Eagles not really as an investment for the metal but for collectors purposes since they have a low mintage and a really cool design. Palladium Eagles also actually hold up really well in the secondary market and sell for almost double if not more over the spot price of Palladium

The platinum eagles are the only coin where once i held it in my hand, i realized none of the videos i had seen about them did them any justice. They are truly beautiful in person, the sculpting is deep cameo quality even on the bouillon pieces, and the contrasts between the mirror and satin finishes on the cameo are masterful work. Great coin, too bad platinum is a bad investment.

Platinum is in cells needed in pure Hydrogen production. Good bye electric cars, hello to Hydrogen powered vehicles. Nuclear energy uses platinum I think.

@jaybarr3307 do not be fooled. Media and advisers try and make it look a certain way, but it is not great for electronic cars. That could be true. The government gives millions to these car companies to have hybrid and electronic options. But It won't last, especially for the larger vehicles. People are getting sick of electronic. It's already started happening in UK and US markets. Ford lost 5 billion dollars on their electronic line quit making the Ford lightning. People are not buying them. The Rivens are having problems. Last year I seen a 2 year old tesla half the original price. Electronic cars will probably be around, but they will not replace cars, trucks, suv, or vans. They will likely move to more hybrids if anything. But those got problems too. They are complicated and expensive to repair. Until they have durable alternatives, you will save a lot of money by just sticking with gas.

I know, but it's just back to 2018-19, that palladium had the last extreme rise over the price of gold and platinum. I think I have 4 Oz of Pd and a 50 gram bar and a few small coins of Pt. Pd is very important in organic chemistry (as catalyst for very interesting reactions)

Platinum is a great metal to trade, and easy to buy and sell with online dealers. It bounces up and down about $100 ounce every few months. SD Bullion and JM Bullion offer great buy back prices.

A little while back I picked up a 1 oz Pamp bar of Platinum as spot was about $900 and the premium was low cuz the assay card looked like shite. I put it in a capsule and tossed the card. Later, I bought a half-oz platinum eagle. That's the extent of it. I have a good sized stack of silver and gold. Figured hey, it's way down, let's take a flyer. I don't see myself buying more though.

The shops around me all have platinum. Don't think it's that hard there is a market for it. My biggest bag is silver, then gold, then a small amount of platinum. So it is nice to see this bump in price. But yeah i do think it's important to diversify. I don't have any palladium as of right now. Maybe If the price retracts a bit more I'll get some in hopes of another run up. If platinum gets to high they might switch to using palladium for diesel trucks. Yes platinum metals don't have monetary value, but they do have their intrinsic value. Tldr if you are in a good financial spot, can't hurt to buy a little.

I bought a 1 oz palladium valcambi bar late last year. I thought I was buying toward the bottom but its dropped $200 since then. I bought a 1 oz platinum maple leaf earlier this year for $960. It even had maple syrup in the 1 side of the plastic flip 😅. I probably won't be buying any more of either metal but figured it might not be a bad idea to have 1 of each of those metals. Rhodium is interesting too but the spread is too large.

Interesting observations, and....What is an intriguing question/observation to me is that platinum and palladium were both considered, 'precious metals' even many years prior to the mandated adoption, or even invention of, catalytic converters. Why have they (the metals) been considered so precious for so long? What is the driver for that preexisting desirability and high valuation, apart from luxe jewlery and the occasional odd coinage? Are there indutrial or other applications seldom mentioned/little known? Clearly these are metals that were deemed quite important/worthy long before they helped scrub your Ford trucks exhaust. For instance, I know they are also important catalysts in many sophisticated chemical processes, and are used in electronics and medicine/dentistry too, what about defense, or aerospace etc.? Thoughts? I would speculate that like all commodities the percieved importance of the item ( by speculators who have only a limited understanding of their core importance and usages , and their resultant knee jerk buying and selling, affects the metals 'on paper' valuations, stock market ups and downs (because they read the same type of articles you did! causing the usual disproportionate feeding frenzy) more than any change in the metals actual worth or importance in other sectors besides transportation/ automotive applications.

As much as I like to help locally owned shops, "buy local", I can't afford to buy 20 silver eagles at $900.00 plus dollars as I see them on Amazon, and other on-line bullion retailers. Costco with tax and all, just over $700.00, saving me well over $200.00. if I bought the same amount elsewhere. They have 25 count Canadian maples which I also bought was way cheaper than retailer prices. And to buy just one silver eagle from the U.S. Mint directly, they want $80.00 for one silver eagle. Why so high?

You really need to change your websites at least for market prices. Platinum became more expensive than Pd weeks ago. The reason your website doesn't show it is because the spread for Pt is much tighter than for Pd but all options that referenced the spread were below 1 already for a month

Metals seem to be valued at rarity and usage mostly for technology purpose the more technology we create the rare metals become Platinum is supposed to be 30X more rare than gold and hi electrical conductive also can stretch more then gold, silver and copper with heat before breaking my opinion NASA and SpaceX use Platinum and need need the metal there is a big shortage on Platinum one day there might be desperate times for platinum and you might see big jumps in value.

I love Platinum! Much rarer than gold or silver; in coin form it is very difficult to fake (just look at all the phony gold and silver being sold in China - and some of it coming over here); and much less likely to be confiscated in the future due to the low quantity in circulation. I think limited supply might push the price higher - even with all the price rigging going on with pm's.

In most of Europe, platinum and palladium aren’t worth the premium and their VAT, it’s really hard to sell and return your investment.. better keep stacking silver and gold
