I love living in a half timbered house, but heating is expensive. Anyway looks like Celle Christmas Market is due for a visit.

It looks nice to pay a visit. And those langos reminded me a bit about a typical Argentinian/Uruguayan dish called "Torta Frita" which is allso fried dough. It's good to see ya'll enjoying that enchanting Christmas in Germany.

Thank you! The langos definitely reminded us of other dishes, but in the moment, we couldn't exactly put our finger on it.

"Langos" is originally Hungarian...so the "s" at the end is pronouced like "sh" basically the pronounciation written in "english letters" is like "Lungosh". By the way if you want to make a Glühwein at home it is easy to make. You need a bottle of red wine (prefered one with a fruity note) 1/4 litre water 1 Orange 1 Lemon 3-5 pieces of gloves (Gewürznelken) 1-2 Star Anise (Sternanis) 2-3 cinnemon sticks (Zimtstangen) brown Sugar or Honey a shot of rum (or a fruity Schnaps) Put wine, water, the zests of Orange and Lemon (all in all a hiped soup spoon full of zests or a tea spoon full for each ), the Gloves, the Star Anise and the cinnemon sticks in a pot and let that simmer on low temperature (= very important: it must not boil never ever) for an hour (with a lid), then take it from the stove get rid of the lid and let it steep for 15 till 20 minutes. Then get rid of the ingrediants by pouring the wine from the pot into another vessel by using a sieve (when you have put the ingrediants into a tea bag in the first place which is a smart move then this is obsolet and just get rid of the teabag). Now either sugar it or add honey and a shot of rum (or a fruity Schnaps)..and it is ready to serve. Optional you can also add the fresh pressed juice from the Orange and/or the Lemon as well. You can also make a "Glühbier" = the same with dark beer instead of wine. Without alcohol (for a Punsch) just use a mixture of orange juice and lemon juice (all in all 1 litre) instead of the wine + water + shot of rum/Schnaps.
