It looks like the barn is made out of concrete blocks as you can see from the inside and it was covered with a rock layer that allows it to blend it better with the surroundings and looks more aesthetically pleasing. The Mexican states of Zacatecas and San Luis Potosí have barns of this size made out of stone without bricks and are over 200 years old. I remember this hacienda has a set of multiple barns attached one next to each other. There is another hacienda in Jalisco that has such a large barn that it got divided into 4 other barns within it, plus the tapanco. In the modern times of the u.s. where everything seems to be disposable and one use only, it’s good to see older structures like this barn getting a second opportunity! Good luck on your project!

Wonderful restoration, not many doing that today as the cost would be too much. Thats the main reason most owners just tear them down, but old style farmers like me just love them. Strange that it was built that high with out any loft, that's a lot of wasted space. I know that when built, they did put up hay loose, but never that deep. The new rage now is to build a new large machine storage structure and include a inside living space, to cut down the taxes over building a new house. The tax savings will likely pay for the building in less than a decade. Plus you then have a massive indoor patio space for year round enjoyment! And the privacy that brings. We still have the old dairy style barn here on the farm, I've convert4ed a part of it for my "Man Cave" and displaying some of my better artifacts. Now that I'm a bit retired, hope to get it more refined.

@turnoverranch Great job by your roofing contractor and hats to your family for making the investment in a new roof that should last one hundred years with proper maintenance. A question I'd like to ask is; did this barn originally have a hayloft structure that was removed and were the cinder block walls on the inside end walls original to the structure or were they added years or decades after original construction in 1941?
@turnoverranch
@turnoverranch 3 ай бұрын
@@chadbredbenner1555 there's been no hay loft to our understanding. We do not know about the cinder block. There was a hay fire about 10 years after it was built. We wondered if the cinder block was added at that time or if it was original?
