I saw this video on nexus mods and I could not avoid to comment this: consider that tons of stuff written is also written because of power games - as it happens today it happened 2000 years ago and also 200 years ago, what I mean is that we don't know if the stories are true, some people may be not cool for some others and someone wanted them dead, or simply there were violent people that were just burned in the brain and wanted to kill others for fun, veterans (as once you kill you don't come back from it really at least if u do it in war) and thus how those people died, since there was no CSI methods...simply in many cases could have been cover ups. It takes just to control the writing journal and then nobody will ever know how somebody really lived or died, because if you control the masses you control everything, nobody will try to go against the mass or he\she will be isolated... this is how we are today unfortunately. We use power and tools that should help us ,. in that case inform the community to drive and control and eliminate silently someone. Amazing job at explaining, thanks for all this work. Wow

Another great video Man! I agree with all your statements on the facts. The only thing I think R* stretched a bit with the Trader role was the whole Cripps routine. Honestly I don't think any of the hide hunters or trappers actually tanned hides in camp except for their own use, even then they mostly traded with the Native tribes for tanned hides. Now, if you put Cripps to work fleshing and drying then pressing the fur/hides into bales for easier handling along with delivering the bales of hides/furs to the buyers and they would have nailed it. All that said I still think they did well with the whole Trader role. Keep on keepin' on Dude!
@ManvsHistory4 жыл бұрын
You know your stuff, Ltngstrike! If you look closely at the Fur Trade Review page, on some of the skins they differentiate between 'white man tanned' and 'indian tanned'. The latter being worth much more. Cripps should just be fleshing, drying, and putting skins/ hides into bales/packs. You can tell R* was just kinda winging it, racking a hide here, putting a barrel over there. Heavens knows what's in that wagon tank to make it so fragile... nitro glycerine?

Really interesting , i look forward to watching your video on bison when it's completed. Also looking forward to playing the new Trapper roll on RD online. 🤠👍

I think moose are the rarest. I’ve only seen one in Roanoke Ridge.

I've seen a couple by lake Ojiwa as well, but only in story mode. I've yet to see a moose online.

So sad 1:35 that a so-called best-known "pioneer" of Omaha can't even show up well in a Google search. I'd be interested to know why his peers seemed to regard him so well.

there is a mission where you get tanning oil for cripps its rare and a pain but its there
@opossumlord4 жыл бұрын
moose are probably so rare to some people because they're never in the areas you actually find them. I see plenty of moose in RDO

I wouldn't mind getting paid only 25 cents for a deer skin if if it didnt cost me $200 for a decent hat

Alligators have a tiny brain about the size of a quarter and its really hard to hit with a bullet. Thats my guess about the hatchets.

Yikes, the more I learn about hunting and tanning, the happier I'd be to be the gatherer/farmer-part of the equation. Also you missed one very important inaccuracy of the tanning-setup: the price. I know the Gold Rush did some really wonky stuff to the gold price, but I imagine that any trade in human history where someone bought a table, two tanning-racks, a couple of troughs and barrels, and a tool-set for 15 goldbars is a trade where the seller made a VERY good deal.

Something I’d love to see added to the game is the Winchester model 94 in 30-30, I think it would do about the same amount of damage as the kraig rifle and hold 7 rounds

I can't even tell you how much I love these videos. I love history, but never really had a good source for it. If you were my history teacher in high school, I might have actually learned something lol. Thank you so much for all the effort and passion you put into this series! Any chance you'd do videos on how historically accurate other games were? I'd love to know just how close Assassin's Creed 3 was to the actual revolutionary war lol

Thanks, Gabby! I may do others. We'll see where things lead.

I’m very bad at math. But how exactly do you calculate the differences between the real prices and the inaccurate prices?

I hope you'll be able to monetize your channel.
@littlealchemist68724 жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t use online to compare prices because most of them are not only not based on what they would’ve been based on at the time and since it’s online they make it very hard to get a lot of money from so that they can encourage micro transactions

I don’t know if you still read comments on this video, but did you ever plan on making that Beaver Trade video? I don’t know what that is but it sounds really interesting and I’d love to learn about it and how it compares to Red Dead.

@@ManvsHistory That’s super cool! Though since I made that comment i’ve lost interest in Red Dead, I still regularly watch your videos because I truly enjoy the content you make and the history lessons. Feels nice to know you’re still thinking about a comment I made 6 months ago. Keep up the amazing work, man.

@@ALouisae Thanks, buddy. Yeah, I'm working on a new video around hunting in RDO (still a couple weeks out), but I had to come back to watch my own video in order to recall what I covered in this one. Anyway, still appreciate that you watch the vids, even if you don't play the games!
