Historical fiction is my absolute favorite genre ever since I was a young kid, I read some amazing historical fiction Dutch childrens books/YA books when I was younger. My absolute favorite historical fiction book will always be the Book Thief

I don’t get to read much outside of class material, but I absolutely adore The Watchmaker of Filigree Street and I think it was first time I got to explore historical fiction outside of class. I was pleasantly surprised by it and I still have a deep appreciation for it.

I know I'm just adding to what you've already heard, but All the Light We Cannot See is such a great book! It's sad, but absolutely amazing. Also, totally agree about The Book Thief...it was life-changing for me too.

I don't read nearly enough historical fiction! I love it but I think it just makes me so emotional so I need to pace myself with them. I love love love the victorian era also - especially when it's set in London!

Have you read the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon? I was pretty intimidated by each book's length but at least in my opinion it's really worth it! (I've only read the first 4 books myself... But I was surprised how every book dealt with something new (new scenery, therefore different society/culture/...))

Historical fiction is great! Have you seen the show "Timeless"? It's a time travel show and it does history really well! I think you'd like it a lot!

Since you like the 1800s, you should definetely look into the Jack Aubrey book series by Patrick O'Brien. It follows the unlikely friendship of a doctor and a ship's commander during the napoleonic wars, and it is honestly the best seafaring story I've ever read. The first book of the series is called 'Master and Commander'.
