Hi Katherine, Thank you for this video presentation. I have hair similar to your type. I am a long haired male, 45, Caucasian, dark brown wavy to curly hair, type 2B/2C. I have average thickness hair, all natural hair with just the tiniest amount of grey mixed in. I am fairly handsome, so have some eye appeal for a model. I would love to be in your next hair oiling video assuming you would like to try this process on another hair type to promote your products to consumers. I live in the New York area but willing to travel. Let me know if this is something you might wish to try. I enjoy your channel very much.

I’ve oiled my hair on and off for years. I’ve always done it right after I’ve washed it and leave it on until I wash it again. Sometimes I add more to it the ends between washes. I used to have extremely oily hair but it has balanced it out.😊 I am looking forward to trying your blend.

In India we oil babies' bodies and hair... some of us oil our hair every week and we call it "champi" (massage) which is where the word shampoo comes from! My grandmother made a wonderful infused oil of curry leaves and hibiscus 🌺 flower, which smells sharp (I love the smell) but is so good for hair growth.

In modern day India they commonly use mustard oil. I live there half the year since 2017. I was very surprised it was typically being used for oiling. And… all the places I’ve traveled, they use a LOT of oil, soaking the hair (men and women)-Once a week, and keep in overnight. Now, of course this practice varies across India. Almond oil is also used but finding a pure source is very difficult! Spices and herbs are also added of all kinds depending on region of the country. Curry leaves are also common all over the country.
@sapodilla256 ай бұрын
In my school in India, it was compulsory for kids who had hair longer than chin length to oil the hair and tie it in 2 bunches just to make sure it grew evenly (all girls' convent school). We would go to school with our heads soaked in oil! I'm not sure why it was mandatory. Of course shorter hair for health issues was excused. When I was little, my parents cut my hair or shaved my head every summer to prevent heat stroke so I always had shorter hair for half the year, but it always grew insanely fast.
@superpoodlehead6 ай бұрын
@@sapodilla25 That’s interesting! Thanks for sharing. I wonder if it’s compulsory anymore in certain locations? Maybe it prevents lice? Did you use mustard oil? I found that in the northern regions that’s what is typically being used.

@@superpoodlehead I lived in the south, so coconut oil and almond oil were used. I still oil my hair before a hair wash, I use my grandmother's recipe of hibiscus & curry leaf infused coconut oil. My hair is growing back thick and long again. I think the water is also better where I am now (Nepal).

I have very thick, but very fine hair strands. I have been doing historical hair care as well for the past seven years now. I could never get my hair past lowest point of my mid back and its now almost hip length, still thick, stronger and softer. My ends used to get really dry, but four small drops of almond oil every other day on the ends helps it bounce back. Im starting to di the very light daily henna, rosemary, alma oil. My daighter has fine, and thinner hair than myself and she's 8 with hair strong, soft gair down to her bum snd still growing. She insists that i ONLY trim it, no significant cutting until she is 13. We live in an area with humid hod summers and dry cold winters in the US Midwest and folks are always impressed with our long, healthy hair. It's such a bonding moment when i wash my daughter's hair and do detangling and brushing as well as oil treatments. I dont fuss too much with her developing hair, and the natural hair care has really helped the both of us. My father took her when she was 4 years old and got her hair cut to lower shoulder blade length (he asked her if she wanted a hair cut and she had agreed at that time and got my permission as well ❤❤ he was a good Grandpa, whom is no longer with us),and in four years her hair has grown so much.

I don’t know when I’ll actually need to wet it again. I’ve been a bit concerned about developing a funky odour but hubby assures me my hair still smells nice. I used lavender and frankincense EO in the powder. Also, there was no need to worry about the cocoa powder discolouring my fair hair. I’m so thankful for all of your great hair care tips.

Adding cocoa powder so it's darker is such a good idea! I follow a similar routine. I wash once a week and every other week use a scalp scrub (I struggle with dandruff, which has been helped by LESS washing). I generally only powder once during the week if hair is showing "too much" grease. I think people erroneously believe that we don't shower during the week since we don't wash our hair. Also, I use water on my scalp during the week to wash away sweat - especially in this summer heat!

I'm creole and this is how I grew my long thick hair. Although, I can't convince people this is really what I do. They're convinced my hair just naturally grows this way or it's not for every hair texture. Sure my hair does grow, but I also care for it to retain length and keep it healthy. I like to put a shower cap and warm wet towel on my hair and let it sit. I'll repeat that all day if I'm not gong any where for a hot oil treatment before I shampoo. Checking to see if you posted clay wash videos, haven't tried that yet but I've always been interested.

Hello Katherine. I have watched so many of your videos and really enjoy them. How hair care looked in historical times of course depends very much on location. I live on a small island way up north. It is cold, humid and very limited in vegetation. People in the past got most of their vitamins and nutrients through whale-blubber and fish. Hair wasn't washed frequently, but at hair-wash time, hair was washed in urine. The house was cleaned in urine as well. It helped deep-cleansening the hair, it helped stimulating hair-growth and it helped strengthening the hair. I can only speculate about the smell and I have no desire to try this tried and true historical hair-wash method, even though I am curious. But in ALL pictures I have seen, the women have absolutely GORGEOUS STUNNING hair! Local old people here still remember urine being used for hair cleaning. It cleansed the hair effectively for grease and build-up and left the hair gorgeously shiny! It may sound gross to us modern people, but we are so far from nature and so dependent on artificial products and chemicals in our day-to-day life that we almost are incapable of comprehending real natural solutions that in the end are beneficial for us, as well as for the environment. I suspect that in the future, people will look back at us as we're the crazy ones.

Your ingredients are fantastic in this oil. I have all the ingredients already (because I make a lot of products myself) except I ran out of the rose oil. I have to steep some more. I read the story of Mlle. Aline Vallandri hair and she was ahead of her time. I am afraid to constantly brush my hair all the like she dos though. Shame her recipe can not be shared but I hazard to guess we use similar ingredients nowadays if not better. Perhaps.

Hello👋, I've read that it's bad to rub the dropper on the scalp and throughout the hair, then put inside the bottle, because that transfers bacteria, sebum, dust, etc. from the hair into the rest of the oil. Therefore, contaminates and spoils it faster. Even when its clean there's still a risk. Please🙏, what is your opinion on this?
@KatherineSewing7 ай бұрын
Yes you're right, technically the best practice is to try not to touch it to the scalp. In my personal experience, I have never had a problem with this, however. But if you are worried try to avoid touching it to your scalp. You could drop the oil onto your finger tips and apply it like that.

I've been using a combination of castor, argon, and rosemary oil on my scalp and hair once per week, followed by washing, deep conditioning (20 minutes under dryer) rinsing then leave in conditioning and curl gel/cream. My hair is gray and low porosity, so it's prone to frizz, split ends and some breakage. Add to that that since I'm elderly my hair has thinned significantly over the years (post menopausal). This past oiling cycle, I ended up with a couple of pimples on my scalp! I've never had that happen before. I'm not sure if it was because I left the oil on for longer than usual before washing, or it was a new deep conditioner I tried even though it was an all natural product.🤷♀️ Anyway, I wondered if your product might be more beneficial for me based on my parameters (gray, textured, low porosity, etc.)?
