I like the older ones like Tesla and the old war veterans the most. They are so far removed from us that it's hard to imagine them in a moving scene. Can this process work with portrait paintings? I'd love to see something like the Night Watch by Rembrandt or Franz Hals' Laughing Cavalier animated!

Using an earlier version of this, my friend animated photographs of my Grandpa and my Mum. Whilst not as sophisticated as these examples, the results made me dissolve into tears. I was particularly emotional about my Grandpa's image because he died before I was old enough to know him. This is a use for AI that I fully support.

The image of the American soldier and Japanese girl is the most touching. A reminder that humans are humans and love is love. We all have one life to live and cannot allow ill-conceived prejudices and poorly conceived notions about race and culture to get in the way of what we all desperately seek in life: Understanding and acceptance. Side note: The A.I. got "wonky" when the soldier started to eat the patch from his shoulder, but that's okay...he probably did it to make her laugh.

Many of these are studio photographs, and the animation wisely shows the subjects as if they are talking back and forth with the photographer and adjusting their pose, very convincing at showing these historical figures were human.
