This is awesome! I have a 1907 drawing of the first loco crane pictured in the "outdoor cranes" section, @ 2:58 mark.

I remember it abandoned with all the broken windows. Born and raised since 1977.

I was a welder there 1978-close. Sad to see such a historic company go out of business. Bay City lost so many business/jobs.

Yep I worked there at the same time, middle bay almost the entire time.

While stationed at Pearl Harbor, they said one of the yard cranes was the largest in the world. It had a Hawaiian paint scheme to 'protect' its status in photos. Its boom could be seen from Waikiki. Someone told me it was a Brownhoist.

Very nice video. Thanks for the history lesson. I think I caught a glimpse of a powered railroad truck; I was under the impression that the railroad cranes had to be pulled into location to do their work.

It would be cool if you put some music of that time over the video.

I worked there also, from 1979 til Nov. 82, as they were starting to get rid of us for closing the doors, my last day was the day we voted President Reagan in for his first term, use to have election day, not month like now, and the president was voted by the people, not installed by the elites, it was the best job I ever had.
