I would have to differ this game is easy to distinguish difference of players as it's spelled out right on the card. Slugger whiffer home run king etc. Yes season stats aren't printed on card but that's why I like it. So called blue sky approach.

I’m slowly getting used to it :)

Played a good replay of this game and it is solid. It is just counter intuitive to what I have been taught by APBA, Payoff and Strat. I am using Digital Diamond, I had to cancel Ball Stat as I lost too many games due to the program.

For sure! If DD ever got a “Create webpages” feature, I’d be in for sure.

What I like about HMB is the players have their abilities dictate what they can do! I have done a couple replays with this engine and it is surprisingly very accurate - good game! One of my favorites!

I’m looking forward to playing this project!

You keep saying you can't compare two players or know what type of player they are, but once you get used to the game and have played it more, it gets easy to do. All based on actual stats. Flows wonderfully once you have played a few as well.

Once I play a decent number of games, I plan to give a better review. :)

Once you know the qualities, it is actually easier to compare potential player performance from one to another. For exampl, a semi- King will hit more home runs than a semi-scrapper.

I think a lot of it is just getting used to the system. Loving the story elements!

@@baseballmaelstrom I would recommend getting the How-to-Guide, with that you'll have all the tools you need to be able to make quick contrasts between players. It really is way easier than looking at a Strat, APBA, Season Ticket, Statis-Pro, or any other game card for that matter IMO. However, the guide is not required, in no time you'll get the gist of what qualities are better than others and how they interact with the game book.

Purportedly HMB rates defense based on the Rtot/yr statistic, which is what I tend to use. In general, Jeter doesn't fare as well by this measure relative to his Gold Glove awards (nor relative to his Strat rating). In the case of 1999, this was a few years before he started winning Gold Gloves (and he had a negative Rtot).

Absolutely! I’m a big Yankees fan, but I know Jeter’s defense isn’t great by most measures.

I'd like to play History Maker Baseball but despite the fact that they have seasons in PDF format they don't have their rules available that way. Ridiculous. I am in Canada and so I don't want to order and have anything shipped as it gets really expensive.

How did you determine the starting pitchers? Felix and Spud over say Randy Johnson and Whitey Ford.

Since I’m still getting used to this game, I went mostly with ERA.
