Hey, 12 years were skipped. A lot happened between Gertie the Dinosaur (1916) and 1928 including the development of the cel technique by Hurd and Bray, and the inventions of Max Fleischer that included The Rotoscope and Rotograph. Not only that, STEAMBOAT WILLE was NOT the first sound animated cartoon. Fleischer was releasing the KO-KO SONG CAR-TUNES in sound starting in 1925 up to 1927. Also Paul Terry's DINNER TIME had already played on Broadway in August, 1928, nearly three months before the soundtrack to STEAMBOAT WILLIE was recorded. But because the RKO theater chain was still being established and wired for sound, Terry's release was delayed, while Disney's cartoon, distributed first independently made an instant impact. If one is really going to "tell" the history of animation, one needs to tell the whole story. The trouble is that for decades people were only given the Disney history as if there was no one else in the field. The fact is that Disney built upon the discoveries of all of those who came before him, and Max Fleischer was one of those innovators who Walt Disney benefited from immensely.

Jack, I am currently teaching an online MUSICAL ANIMATION class for 4th and 5th grade students during distance learning in San Francisco. Your film has been very much enjoyed by the students! It's clear, nicely paced, and humorous. We are really enjoying it. Thank you !

That’s amazing, I would love to know more, how’s it going?
@commentman74468 жыл бұрын
Ehh... yes the film plays in 24 FPS, but usually they don't animate in 24 FPS (Which is referred to as "animating in ones"). It's just not necessary most of the time. The speed at which the animators animate depends on the shot and movement (and budget).

This is a wonderful job. I would only add that some credit should be given to the predicursors to claymation, especially the early animation puppet works of Starevich, such as Rozhdestvo Obitateley Lesa from around 1913
@briansalazar73975 жыл бұрын
Claymation is Gumby. The animation you referenced as “ claymation is actually known as “ stop motion “ animation where various mechanical armatures are built& dressed to perform long shoots & ware& tear.

Not bad. Useful for reviewing for my animation class. Completely ignores Fleischer Studios and they very important contributions to animation, which was a bummer. Also nothing about Ub Iwerks.

I was in multimedia class and our teacher put this video on and as soon as they started talking about anime I wanted fairytail to show up because it's my favorite and I thought they probably weren't going to show it because it's rare for people to talk about it like this but when you literally gave it it's own video show time I was so lit up and surprise to be perfectly honest 😂

Why does no one knows Walt lied he knew he didn’t make the first sound animation which the title belong to max not Walt
@RayPointerChannel3 жыл бұрын
The "lies" are mixed up in publicity and context. This is just as inaccurate as saying that there were no sound films before "The Jazz Singer." There were as early as 1922 when deForest was promoting the Phonofilm process.

There’s a lot of good info here but there are so milestones skipped and some information isn’t quite correct. It listed looney tunes being a hit in the 60’s. They started in the 30’s and peaked in the 40s and 50’s. Also robotech and other shows were big in the USA before Akira. No disrespect, but wanted to add in some thoughts and corrections. Really enjoyed the documentary overall. Looks like a lot of work went into it. 👍
