Our guest in this episode is Nicholas Campion, who talks about various aspects of the history of astrology, as well as the associated filed of cultural astronomy. Nick Campion is an associate Professor in Cosmology and Culture at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, where he is also the programme Director of the MA in Cultural Astronomy (www.uwtsd.ac.u.... He is the director of the Sophia Centre for the Study of Cosmology in Culture, and Astrology (www.uwtsd.ac.u... editor of the journal Culture and Cosmos (www.cultureandc...).

I believe the gentleman is referring to the idea of Mars being functional benefic for a Sagittarius lagna since Mars rules the 5th a trikona house and the 12th an impresionable house. At the same time Mars in gemini is not too aggressive and hence somewhat inefficient. However his final dignity depends on mercury which will be in cancer, leo or virgo if the Sun is in Leo as he mentioned. My experience is that Mars in the 7th is bad no matter how you see it, however taking this reasoning we might infer that they foresaw inefficient adversaries maybe? Im sure neither the mongols in the 13th century nor the Americans in the 21st fit that description. 31:38
