The Killing joke is one of the stories that made Jim Gordon one of my favorite characters in DC, man's a badass.

Jim Gordon's got to be my favorite comic book character of all time. He's got a strong moral code, but he's still flawed and isn't perfect. I like how he's a fairly important and recognizable character in the DC universe, and yet is a very normal human being with no special powers or gadgets. He's a normal guy just trying to make sense of a nonsensical universe filled with crazy billionaires in silly outfits and stupid gods. But that Super Heavy storyline sounds kinda stupid. "Let's take one of the only normal and relatable characters in this universe all ready jam-packed with bizarre and unrelatable meatheads, and stick him in power armor to make him a bizarre, slightly more relatable than-average meathead to replace this meathead we just killed off. Oh, and lets just revive the first meathead later to render his sacrifice completely pointless. Again." We have more than enough meatheads to keep us happy, DC, please keep the normal people normal.

James Gordon is easily my favorite Batman ally besides Dick Grayson. I always loved the friendship and brotherly bond between Batman and Gordon. One of the coolest aspect of this is unlike so many other law enforcement Gordon doesn’t actually want to know who is under the mask. He understands Batman in a way no one else does.

Jim is the best comic book character ever. He's the answer of what it means to be a hero in the real world. Without costumes and crazy powers. Just a man who wants to do the right thing and still, it's not perfect. Has his flaws and mistakes. An awesome character. PS: he have the coolest coat too kkk

Since Batgirl was first created for the TV series, she was called his niece there. The comics had her as daughter. So, post-crisis, the "adopted niece" was a way to reconcile these continuities.
