I like to think that from hearing that some important stuff is missing to fully understand what happened during Twilights rule of why she sealed Magic away. I have a feeling through her message that she did so cause of Opaline & Misty’s story is of Opaline trying to make herself the good guy & Twilight the villain. But I like to think Twilight put friendship & Harmony first and sealed magic to prevent ponies hurting each other with magic through Opalines influence. Thus Twilights actions stop Opaline, but didn’t stop what happened between the pony races.

My theory on the real truth of what actually happened: Since Sunny only mentions Twilight in the stories(not the mane 6) we can assume that they most likely passed on, possibly as well as Shining Armor. Ophaline was either a former student of Twilight's who rebelled, or just a normal unicorn who was power hunger and researched ways to drain creatures of their magic.(most likely becoming am alicorn the same way Cozy did) and maybe even used similar methods to Tirek when absorbing magic. Maybe she even took magic from objects and the world itself. The ponies and creature began to blame each other the the magic disappearing and began fighting. Twilight, tried to deal with finding the one responsible and keeping the races from fight each other. Cadence would've done her best to help, but she also had to take of her kingdom, which was losing its magic as well. Twilight finally found out Ophaline was behind the magic draining. But with the magic as weak as was currently, she was forced to put the remaining magic(THoH, possibly Ophaline's magic, and her magic) in the crystals, and separated the tribes to make sure they'd stay safe from Ophaline. She probably even told Spike to stay with the dragons, so he could make sure the other creatures stay safe as well.(maybe Sparky is Spike's descendant, since they both have magic fire.) Cadence, wanting to keep her kingdom and daughter safe, seals them away with her magic. She and Twilight would live out the rest of their lives, hoping for the day the magic would return and ponies and creatures would work together again. I'm not sure how Twilight knew earth ponies would be able to showcase their magic for the first time. Maybe she knew that cause she put the treehouse of harmony's magic in the crystals, so she knew the tree would give the earth ponies that ability? At least these are my theories.

I think the same, we don't know everything about Twilight and the crystals yet and I think she was forced to put the magic into the crystals for an important reason. Opaline is a misterous villian, I liked her introduction and I would like to see more of her and what interactions had with twlight.

I was just talking about this to a few other people through discord. I’m doing an overview video and I say a lot of things similar to what you said about these 2 stories. “The thing is, neither of these stories are 100% correct. Sunny’s side doesn’t mention Opaline at all, and Misty’s is shaped from hatred towards Twilight. But I believe we can piece together what happened by mixing both of these stories together. When Sunny said that a Unicorn hurt an Earth pony, it seems too broad, yet too specific at the same time. Ponies argue all the time, and something like that wouldn't be able to divide the tribes. But at the same time, it’s weird how she specifically said an Earth Pony was hurt by a Unicorn. What I believe happened is that Opaline, who everyone else thought was a unicorn, hurt an important Earth Pony, maybe by stealing their magic or something drastic. Since she had been spreading ideas about certain tribes being better, according to the Discord comics, she could have used this to divide them further. As for the rest, it’s a little weird. Twilight creates the crystals and locks magic, but we still don't know if that held ponies together properly or not. If they still separated, then the “magical bubble” Misty and Opaline talked about could have been created because of the disappearance of magic. If it did, then Twilight set a bubble at the beginning, and after the tribes divided Opaline didn't have the magic to find the crystals. Both these choices are missing something, though. Discord said that everything went back to normal after the crystals were created, but then what caused the division?” There’s a lot of things left unanswered in the new series, but if they keep in with these lore drops they’ve been doing well get some answers in no time

When I first watched the G5 movie, I got the impression that the showrunners wouldn't be particularly interested in explaining what happened to Friendship following Twilight's rule. I think that offhand line about a pony getting hurt by another of a different sub-race is the closest thing we'll get, though I haven't finished watching Ch2 so I may be in for a pleasant surprise

The crystals were created by that Alicorn Queen so to have all the magic to herself, but Twilight seperated them and told all the different Pony races to protect each one, taking it far away from her so as to never use them.

It's been established that guardianship of Equestria cycles and the right heroes always show up eventually, even if it isn't the group that first discovers the problem. I could see one of Twilight's biggest 'jobs' as Princess being to get things ready for the next cycle of guardians after the Mane 6.

I agree Doc, there are probably way more elements to why Twilight put all of Equestria's magic into the crystals. and as for Sunny and Misty's stories about Equestria's history i'm sure that's a mystery that will be solved in future episodes of the series. In fact if Discord ever shows up in MYM he'll probably explain Twilight complete reasoning for why she did all of that.

I do agree he did mention her reasoning behind why she made the crystals in the first place. I do however look forward to him showing up in the g5 series as I have a feeling they will bring him into this generation as a way to guide this new one with some of his knowledge of the past given lot of it I’m sure was lost due to all of them Dividing at a certain point in time.

Noticed several things that no one else has- Importantly- Opaline's cutie mark looks like the fire of friendship heart or the unity crystals. Could she be made from magic? The tree in C2 E2 looks like it could be a newborn tree of harmony, something which is referenced later on. Could Misty be a distant relative of Twilight? I find it highly unlikely that Opaline found her as a filly and adopted her. Misty also has purple on her chest, the same shade that twilight's coat was. Assuming Twilight is dead, how did she die? But based off of Sunny's story, she seems to have sent the three pony races on their way as a last resort and probably sunk into a depression. The Crystal Empire is not mentioned. Yet the tree in e2 of C2 does have a crystal appearance. And the aurora in the movie was reminiscent of it. The unity crystal's prism is what remains of the elements of harmony. While equestrias magic faded, the prisms magic is from the box that created Twilights castle and ultimately defeated tirek. Zipp and Pipps father? We see nothing of a king. Only Queen Haven. Yet in the portrait day episode, Haven sings a love song of sorts. She clearly remembers their father, but he's never mentioned. There is an official timeline that ties in G1 with Meghan, Izzy mentions Great Great Aunty Buttons. The rainbow of light is a fragment of the prism from the unity crystals. So sometime after magic disappeared, a small colony of ponies formed in Dream Valley and the friendship was kept alive. These ponies left Equestria, and found another far away land to live. A land with magic. And sometime later, Buttons- or someone in her family line, journeyed back to Equestria and settled in Bridlewood. Sunny also mentions she is over the Luna Moon- clearly Luna is remembered to some extent. The fact that Celestia and Luna are not remembered as well as Twilight is interesting You owould think Sunny would at least know there were other alicorns. With how long Celestia and Luna reigned, I can't imagine them being forgotten. I had initially assumed that Opaline was a nightmare Twilight, or Nightmare Flurry Heart- but considering it is made clear she is not, but I want to assume Twilight- being Twilight, had contingency plans. Opaline may have returned and either defeated the mane 6, or- as Twilight made it sound, truly drove them apart. If Opaline nearly succeeded, and Twilight was left by her lonesome, it is entirely possible that Twilight was forced to call upon the other alicorns. She probably instructed Cadence to help her seal away the Crystal Empire, and leave Flurry Heart as the sole ruler to protect her ponies as well as be sealed away until the magic returned. Twilight- if not the tree of harmony (as the hologram) probably filmed the hologram video after the creation of the unity crystals, and if the unity crystal creation did not ultimately kill her, sealing away Equestria from Opaline and then sealing away the Crystal Empire, most likely took both her life and possibly Cadence's as well. Luna and Celestia may have been the first to fall, had they not passed of natural causes.

I don't think the crystals contain the magic in Equestria, so much as they work as like a valve? A magician on off button, that disrupts or directs the flow of magic. Because all creatures supposedly make magic, and ponies must have at least a little since they have cutie marks

I have now seen the entire series as it exists so far, and so will try to avoid spoilers. That should be easy anyway if we’re focusing on elements from Episode 2 and Episode 6, both of which you have now seen. Clearly Twilight anticipated earth pony magic being unlocked, even though apparently that had never happened before. I suspect that might have something to do with why magic is more powerful than ever before, and that may well have attracted Opaline (I don’t recall if she was aware of this beforehand or not). Some of the pieces of the puzzle seem easy enough to put together: Opaline was greedy for all the magic in Equestria for herself, and came close to stealing it all successfully, but she was defeated and the magic was kept away from her by being hidden in the three crystals. And presumably it was the magic in the crystals that led to the founding of Zephyr Heights, Bridlewood, and Maretime Bay. But what makes me curious is why nopony knew about any of this, given that Sunny’s story didn’t mention Opaline at all-and given how new magic was to everypony at the beginning of the film. Was it kept secret? And if so, why did Twilight make the hologram in anticipation of a time when it would need to be known? Also, I suspect that the story of an earth pony being hurt by a unicorn has more to it than meets the eye. My hunch is that it isn’t false, but as you said, it isn’t enough by itself to justify sealing away all magic and separating the three pony tribes on that account alone. I’m a bit reticent to guess, lest my guesses be wrong (and worse than what I guess)-or lest they be no different from the reality at all. But I might venture some guesses anyway. So far, Opaline seems like a combination of Tirek and Chancellor Neighsay, but in Alicorn form, regarding non-alicorns as inferior, and wanting to rule Equestria as queen. I’m a bit curious about the exact circumstances surrounding the earth pony being hurt by a unicorn. That wording suggests that it was a “magical accident”, but one that was perhaps misinterpreted as malicious. (Also where did the pegasi figure in?) There may be nothing to this guess at all, but I wonder whether there might be something comparable to Frozen here. Is it at all possible that the unicorn who accidentally hurt the earth pony was Twilight? I know she’s an alicorn now, but she started as a unicorn, and we know how she tends to overreact and blame herself. Notwithstanding character growth, some of which we haven’t seen yet, it seems like it would be in character for Twilight to overreact in such a way because of something she did, however accidentally. And what if the earth pony who got hurt was one of the Council of Friendship: either Applejack or Pinkie Pie? (Or worse, perhaps Li’l Cheese?) That would certainly hit home all the more for her. Again, there may be nothing in that scenario at all. But there are other matters, like what of the Windigos, and what about what happened in Chapter 1 of Make Your Mark? And I’m sure there’s a lot more that I’m missing or have forgotten, even ignoring the last two episodes. So far, Zipp is the character I identify with the most, and my favorite-which makes me wish I’d seen Chapter 1 before watching any Chapter 2 episodes. While I am entertained by the episode-specific elements, I’m more interested in this backstory and mystery and learning just what happened. And it’s also been frustrating to me, seeing it take so long for the Mane 5 to even become aware of Opaline and the threat she poses (no spoilers on the last two episodes). I suppose it’s because G5 started with a movie that got this out of the way (I haven’t seen the movie yet), but the actual series hasn’t needed one point of view character to go around meeting the others individually, as Twilight met the ponies of Ponyville in the Friendship is Magic series premiere. And yet, there is something of an overarching story arc spanning multiple episodes here, which Season 1 of Friendship is Magic didn’t have (beyond the Grand Galloping Gala). Sorry for rambling; I tend to do that. I went from having too little to say, to having a lot for just one comment.

I really like how we can piece together some semblence of what happened with the 3 different stories, obv discords is the basis. Implying things are interesting since in sunnys story it was somepony being hurt which made the crystals made while it was some windigo like disaster (that apparently discord couldnt even handle?) which caused the requirement of the crystals. Also with the things together it seems to imply that: It started with the shadow unicorn (opaline), causing stuff, the calamity happened which required the crystals being made? they were living happily after the crystals being made. i assume after that more seperation happened and the "injury" happened which caused all to seperate. Reading into it more, it could imply that opaline mightve started a race war (which explains why they couldnt just solve it by blasting opaline), and that somepony may have died

me and my friends were talking and me and one other said that if you read the comics, it does explain the missing peaces. they (Hasbro) said once in an interview that the story for Mlp FIM was so big that putting it into a show wasnt possible because of the length, so they added the comic's and IF ya read those, then you'ed see that those missing peace's get explained, we were talking on what happened and me and my friends are ALL excited for what's coming in Mlp... i just hope others can read the comics to, to understand what happened and why FIM is quoted as "Ancient History" in gen5.. this type of stuff is what me and my friends LOVE and were all excited for what's coming ^^

I think one of the reasons why Twilight created the crystals was for two reasons. One of course was to stop Opaline and her dark agenda for Equestria, the other was because it was becoming far too powerful for equestrians to handle. Just think about it. In the message Twilight left behind, she herself said that Magic was becoming more powerful than it had ever been. It's alive, always changing, and growing stronger. And this is true, considering what we've seen of the Earth pony's new magic along with them not being able to fully control it. Just imagine what new magic the Unicorns and Pegasi might have, and don't get me started on the dangerous powers of Alicon magic. I think when she created the crystals, she did it with the intent of keeping the magic under control and away from Opaline's greedy hoves.

Misty had so much fun with her new friends and she wants to hide that from Opaline. Let’s be honest here, Opaline doesn’t seem care a lot about Misty, in fact she treats her like garbage. Misty and the mane five’s friendship got to rocky start, but I’m sure as we see more episodes, their relationship will grow stronger and Misty will realize that the mane five are her true friends and not Opaline.

From what im getting, the unicorn that caused the trouble was opaleene, she was dealt with and then she felt alone and wanted power for herself she somehow got power to give herself wings, she kept taking magic so twilight had to store it in the crystals

Can I just say how sad this is already? From what little we can gather, Twilight had not only make the hard decision to take away all magic, but apparently also give up her alicornhood as she is seen without wings in the hologram. Not to mention her friends aren't even mentioned during that bit about what may have happened, which tells me that they may have long since past on and no mention of what happened to Spike, so Twilight had to do this most likely all alone. Only to then go into hiding, leaving her fate unknown, a good chunk of Equastriean history lost as a result and most recognizable locations are mostly likely in ruin. Fingers crossed the Canterlot is still out there somewhere. I really hope they venture out at some point because that is the real thing keeping me hooked is wondering what the heck happened to all the other races as well.

I do seem to remember them showing in Opalines version that the magic was sealed in the crystals and split into 3 corners of equestria in a invisibility field so that she could not find them. Or something along those lines. With this I think they are going for Twilight sealing magic so that Opaline can't steal it all. Somehow.

I definitely think that each story is missing something, even when put together, and I am really curious as to what might be missing. Also, given how different Twilight looks compared to the end of season 9 in G4, I saw a hypothesis somewhere (can't remember where) that maybe this is an alternate timeline, maybe one related to Starlight's time traveling shenanigans at the end of season 5. But regardless, I am still able to enjoy the series and will just keep G4 alive in my own head cannons. Also, Dr.Wolf, just wanted to give a quick thank you for inspiring one of my stories over on FIMFiction with your video on who Sunny's mother might be :)

I had a thought on Oapline and shared it with a few others in discords but I'll share it here as well What if Opaline, the new villainous Alicorn, isn't form Equestria? what if she's from the Equestria girl's Universe? I assume Sunset Shimmer became a teacher at the school at the end of Gen 4, like Starlight became the headmaster in Twilights school. And Opaline was a student of her's like Sunset was to Celestia, chosen to one day become the protector of the portal or something, but like with Sunset (at first) instead of wanting to protect she wanted to control. So Opaline betrays Sunset, goes thru the portal, after having been defeated possible, and sets about trying to take over equestria after destroying the portal so Sunset couldn't come after her. I assume she'd have the bewitching bell from her world or even the Alicorn amulat. She might even have have sent her Pony double to the Equestia girls Universe or evne sent her to Limbo somehow And! And! What if she was originally an Earth pony? she'd use the bell to absorb unicorn and pegasi magic and the bell turns her into the Alicorn of Gen 5? (Like what it did to cozy glow) And Twilight took the magic and made the crystals to prevent the bell form being able to take powers from others and thats why it's just laying around in Sunny's house cause they don't know it in fact is a dangerous item?? As far as I know, I don't think the Bewitching Bell can take magic from crystals or items, so maybe Twilight made the crystals and the ponies tap into the magic to use it? kind of like humans using electricity as an everyday item but not being able to use it if the power goes out or they don't pay the bill. (I hope that makes sense lol) I hope I was clear enough you anyone to understand.

From what I can guess from what we’ve been shown from the two stories and Opaline’s desire to take all magic for herself, I think the story of what happened might go something like this. Opaline was the one who was causing a divide among the pony races and was breeding prejudices and fears among them to start a war. In order to prevent that, Twilight sealed all the pony magic in the three crystals as a deterrent. It worked and peace was restored for a time. However, Opaline saw her chance with all the magic being controlled through the crystals and stole them to use the magic to make herself an Alicorn. Twilight tried to stop her and lost. Without the Princess of Friendship it seemed like Opaline was going to take over, but without Twilight and her friends long gone in this current age the three pony tribes ended up dividing and that caused the magic to vanish which also removed most of Opaline’s power and she was unable to fix them. With no choice she had to give back the crystals and wait till they could figure out how to restore the magic which finally happened with Sunny and co.

I have a theory that Twilight made a mistake back in season eight. She and her friends started the School of Friendship instead of passing the Elements of Harmony to the CMC. This caused magic to leak out of Equestria and left vulnerable to outside threats. Cozy Glow was the first threat from the outside. Opaline may have been from outside Equestria as well. I do think Opaline may have existed during the events of G4. I do think Opaline placed a spell on the CMC when the Mane Six were fighting the Legion of Doom and the students of Friendship were performing the Friendship Speech. This was the reason why the CMC weren't at Equestria assembled. Opaline may have also divided the three tribes on the comics. I think Opaline caused the events of G5.

Tbh relating to both stories I actually have a small theory. Warning this is also a ref to g5 comics So I think what happened was, there was once a fourth pony kind and that was the alicorn kind, they were once held superior to all pony race and took their powers for themselves ( before g4 happened btw) Until one alicorn saw the unfair treatment towards the rest of the races so, he/she started a rebellion against the rest of the alicorns and defeated them and spread the rest of the magic to all other races except earth ponies (this is because after absorbing their power most earth ponies forgot they even had powers to begin with). So years later equestria was created and this alicorn was their first ruler. Generations passed and discord arrived and celestia and Luna (possibly the descendants of the alicorn ruler) came to rescue equestria with the elements of harmony and thus was crowned as the next rulers of their land. Years passed and twilight became the next alicorn princess, but while everything was at peace between the three tribes, the alicorn tribe who was betrayed years ago by their kind was not liking it and started sending spies to equestria to divide the ponies and start a war. By then twilight’s friends were too old to fight (or even died) so twilight tried her best to defend everyone probably with the rest of the princess. But the alicorns caused so much hate between the tribes that friendship was ruined. Magic was lost, everything was turned into a intense situation, and the alicorns were so close to obtaining all power for themselves. So twilight did the only thing she could, she took all the powers of each race including the earth ponies and turned them into the unity crystals and gave it to each tribe leader and told them to live separately for the time being and with the last of her strength she created a barrier between all tribes and banished all the other alicorns leaving only one sole survivor (opaline). With the last of her strength twilight died as she thought of her friends and everyone she loved. (Btw she probably recorded the message within the crystals incase if anyone finds them and puts them together again.) and the reason she’s not a big alicorn but a small one is because she used up all her power and turned small. (Kinda like the similar situation with discord’s amulet episode). Ye that’s it TwT

Something I just realized; why hasn't Sunny & company bothered to check ANY of Argyle Starscout's notes, ledgers or the various artifacts Sunny hung onto when he passed away (like the feather kept under the glass on his desk!). If they were looking to figure out the 'missing pieces' of the past, shouldn't that have been the first thing they'd investigate? If Sunny had told Zipp and Pipp about her dad and his research, I imagined Zipp would've gone through the archive of Sunny's dad might have made in search of answers.

Three crystals to contain the magic was not a wise choice. Those crystals were needed to protect magic from Lord Tirek or Cozyglow. If Opaline's magic was stripped, how did she retain her immortality to live for thousands of years. Her real story might be similar to Sable Spirit's in the way she hoards for herself. I'd like to hear what Celestia and Luna have to say, wherever they may be. I wonder why there are seven ponies depicted on the mural when there was only a Mane Six, unless of course Starlight Glimmer was an honorary member of the "Mane Seven".

I think opaline came from the portal that twilight built and decided to steal the magic from everypony after everyone got it back in the other world, since she stole it from them there but it failed so she tried equestrian magic from all the ponies and twilight saw the threat and had every pony band together to put the magic in the crystals.

I'm trying to get into it. I do enjoy some of the characters like Zipp but idk. Maybe it will get better, it is only 9 episodes in at this point. I love G4 and it held my attention from start to finish. All episodes have pros and are at least enjoyable even when not well written. Except for Flurry of Emotions in my personal opinion. I say all this but it definitely held my attention for the last three episodes. I guess I'm expecting too much from G5.

I'd say I'm in the same boat as you Doc. I love a good mystery and the one surrounding Twilight is what is keeping me interested in G5, but tbh I'm waiting for that moment that will get me to want to see more like how when I first got into MLP when the S4 finale came, and it got me to see the series from the beginning. granted I'm not looking for DBZ-esque fights, but i still don't feel G5 has scratched that itch for me yet. though I did love the movie and the comics, with the revelation of Discord still being around REALLY helped me see the potential G5 can have, hopefully we'll get some answers and maybe cross media continuity to help build the world of Equestria back up and maybe show us who Opaline is and what might have happened so many moons ago.

At this point, the million-dollar question is: After all the other villains the G4 crew had taken down, why was Twilight forced to take such drastic measures to stop Opaline? Why was "fire up the Elements of Harmony, then chuck her into Tartarus" not an option? Diving headfirst into drastic magical solutions is usually more Starlight's thing. And Opaline's version of events is about what one would expect for someone who thinks they're entitled to have all the power. Heck, she's explicitly stated than alicorns deserve total control over Equestria.

What I think is most interesting is that we now know that at least one pony is still alive from the time of Twilight. So it is possible for, at least one pony tp have been cuncurrently alive from G4 to G5.

I tend to think of G5 as "extra-canonical" to FiM, like the comics were, but that's just so I can engage with these ideas better. I also think that the g5 comics are helping lay a foundation for those more invested in the story this time, as opposed to being entirely removed. I think Opaline hurt somepony important to Twilight. Probably one of Sunny's ancestors, given the importance of the earth pony statement, and Sunny's family clear connection to Equestria's history. What this caused is unclear, but g5 issue... 2? 3? Implies that it was catastrophic. Only time will tell us more...

One thing I don't get is why Twilight looks like having a base pony model again. By the time Spike have grown to an adult dragon and the rest of the mane six became old, she had the same model as Celestia. Wiht greater wings, longer legs and a longer snout. Ophaline for sure looks bigger than Misty but I imagined Twilight looking a bit more ... majestic I guess.

My theory about Misty's story is that before the Founding of Equestria, there was once a theocratic technologically advanced ancient alicorn civilization who are as despoted as Opaline. This alicorn civilization proclaimed themselves as superior to any creatures, enslaved everyone lowly to them & sent members of their race such as Opaline to divide & conquer said lowly races. When they heard about the Magic of Friendship, the ancient alicorns retreated deep underground for thousands of years to come. Now, with the Magic of Friendship finally failing, the alicorns were ready to take back what is theirs.

I personally believe that it's unlikely that eveyone was happy with Twilight's plan as it basically involved taking something that was part everyone just because of some bad actors. And if this extended to other races then it could mean that they resented ponies for it as their squabbles lead to a status quo where you had to get along or lose some abilities you were born with. Not to mention Twilight's probably mistaken belief that her plan would always ensure Harmony. Though that's just conjecture on my part.

I found myself immensely let down by the glaring continuity errors in the story Sunny gave. In A New Generation, not only does Sunny insist that Unicorns wouldn't use their magic against Earth Ponies as a matter of course, which contradicts the story's (unconvincing) reason for the Unity Crystals being made, but a major plot point of A New Generation was proof that ponies were united past the founding of Bridlewood Forest, Zephyr Heights, and Maretime Bay, which directly contradicts the ponies taking the crystals and separating to form the three cities. On a brighter note, I am looking forward to you talking about Misty's character once you've watched the other episodes, since I also found her character rather interesting.

I think a Pony War broke between the different races of ponies and other creates too, now I think Opuline is the unicorn that attack a earth Pony, start the conflict between Pony races. I think Opuline is the daughter or niece of Twilight, who started this War on purpose to dethrone Twilight, but because of Opuline's actions it caused the ponies and creates to argue at first, but eventually a war broke out. The war probably got, so bad that Twilight had to seal everyone's Magic including Opuline's. Now when Twilight sealed Everyone's magic their was probably weird side effects, like the Magical Creates just disappear without trace, this could've caused fear of Twilight's power, but Twilight disappear too after the Pony War. I think after the War the ponies blame each race for the Pony War, The Magical Creates disappearance and Twilight Disappearance too, which lead to each race taking the Friendship Crystals. Also, think Opuline probably trick the Magical Creates into attacking the Ponies during the War, so she can kill the Magical Creates, and become the new Queen, but Twilight probably sacrificed her own life to seal everyone's Magic.

Earth ponies always had magic that enabled them to work with the earth, as well as increased strength. A lot like EarthMates from Rune Factory. However I think the reason that their magic is applied to the degree we see it is really simple. Its all in one place for lack of a better word. All of the magic in equestrian is in 3 crystals. One crystal contains the pegasus magic, which is simply flight. One crystal is unicorn magic which is magical shit in general. However the third is different, the earth magic of earth ponies. Earth pony magic is subtle, however now it is direct contact with both unicorn magic and pegasus magic, and its magic is virtually given to every earth pony in equestrian. All that condensed magic that might also be influenced by the magic of the other 2 tribes likely made earth pony magic into its unpredictable state. All the magic is distributed equally. We are not seeing anyone capable of something like a sonic rainboom, or the crazy magic shenanigans unicorns in gen 4 were pulling. So in theory everyone's magic level is at an equilibrium with everyone else. All pegasi can fly again but might not have the ability to control weather with it (part of that magic is the ability to touch and manipulate clouds). All unicorns can do magic again but likely to an average citizen of gen 4 kind of degree (so levitation and a bit more, so likely not to any degree of Twilight Sparkle or Starlight Glimmer). Earth ponies ended up for lack of a better word, magically jacked. Their ability to interact with the earth was amplified either by condensing all of that magic into a single gem, or as a result of the completed artifact having the earth pony gem at its base. And because the magic is given to every earth pony at the same amount, shit got wild. And Twilight probably had an idea this would be the result of having the magic crystals together after their creation.

Honestly, while I can believe Sunny and Misty's accounts have some truth, I don't think we should rely on any pony accounts of this story. We need another account of this event from another species, like a changeling, hypogrifs, or dragons. I say that because if all magic in Equestria was taken then should any of th creatures that were there, which we all know that other creatures were, had their magic taken away too? Pony magic I get but you can't tell me that other creatures who had magic didn't get their's take away too; Opalina doesn't appear to be the type to overlook their magic if it could be a threat to her too. Plus, if this all happened during Twilight's reign then we need to know how far it really was; I know we were told that Twilight would not outlive her friends but we also assume that happened.

Let's just admit it to ourselves: G5 was supposed to be it's own continuity, but because of how huge G4 was, they didn't want to lose their surprise success. But doing so, they didn't stop to think that they should do it, and just prompted to ignore everything that happened before, bust still try to make it work in universe. The beauty of G4 was that there were things from previous generations, but they were all in their own continuity, like how the other toy lines are with their shows.

The Connection with Twilight and the Crystals was already in the Movie, in the Trainstation, in the Stained Glass Window, with her Cutiemark and the 3 Crystals. Sawtooth Waves has made an video about this near a Year ago ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/oqDZm6ypntWgpqc ), where he explained that Twilight has made them. Actual Hasbro or better Netfix is a bit strange with the FiM: MyM Series. First they call the Specials as Part of the Show, calling it Chapter 1 and the first Third of the actual Show is Chapter 2. I wonder why they do this and not just do an Specials Tab for the 4 Specials and a Serason 1 Tab for the 23 Episodes. If they continue like this, the last Special would be Chapter 7. But why they do Batch Releases? Usual a Show are released with one Episode per Week, because it bind the People to the Show and they not have to wait long to get something new. But what they do? Special and then 8 Episodes at the same Time. The next Special Winter Wishes will be released at 21. November as I have read on a Page, what mean 2 months until you get something new. Two Months would fit the one Episode per Week (2 Months with 4 Weeks are 8 Episodes). Actual I think my Guess is right, that they plan the show in this Rhytm: - Start with 1. Special and then a longer Wait (26. May 2022) - one week later Episodes 1-8 (26. September 2022) - two Month later 2. Special "Winter Wishes" (21. So I would like to see how many have see the Movie, because the Fans wanted a Sequel of the Friendship is Magic Show and just got the Intro of the Movie and the remaining Movie as a Pony Version of Real Live. G5 is not bad and I like to watch it, but even with some Ponys try to be like G4 Ponys (izzy/Pinky, Sunny/Twilight, Hitch/Fluttershy, Zipp/Rainbow, Pipp/Raity, Haven/ Diamond Tiara, Opalia/Nightmare Moon), I have the feeling it is like Popcorn Movies - watched and forgotten. The Storys are often flat, the Main 6 meet Misty a 2. time, 2 Episodes later and cant remember her, the Episodes have more Music to stretch the show without adding content, as an Disney Movie and Opalia act like the Evil Queen in Snow White. Possible it could have an even less impact on the Fandom as Equestria girls, who not even had a real Show, just shorets and Movies).
