Wow, that sketch of Madoka’s eyes is so cool! Guess she gave extra consideration to the true fans :)

As I said, I think she was getting irratated seeing all the bootlegged crap that was coming up.

You've made me super interested in this show.. saw a DVD box set on Amazon of all the episodes for $100 and I seriously considered it. Seen nothing but great reviews for it.

I'm glad that you would be able to take a look at this classic anime that really started the whole anime fan subtitled movement,

Great story about meeting Matsumoto Sensei. I've always thought of going to San Diego to get a manga ka's autograph but I hear they limit the number of people and there's a good chance I'd be out of luck.

this story made me very happy, given orange road is one of my fav anime of all time. Have a similar convention story from me! in 2012 (i believe it was) at Anime Boston the big steinsgate premier was the major theme of the convention, they got tons of guests related to SG including the VA of feyris (halko momoi) and itou kanako, the singer of the Opening. I managed to find an old eroge collection of itou's songs so i had her sign the cd cover. But i couldnt find anything for momoi to sign, so i get in line for the autograph session with nothing. I was with my friends who had official merch, and this was the year i went in one of those Horse Head masks. So it gets to my turn in line and to preface momoi is a very famous japanese idol, one of the old school idol singers who loves retro anime and stuff. So i tke off my horse mask and PLOP it right on the counter and give her this huge goofy smug smile, and she starts laughing. The staff was giving me death stares but it seemed to brighten her day at such a goofy request. Needless to say i wore that mask for the rest of the weekend : ) -Zach

BTW, you left a bunch of blank space at the end of the video, and some “outtakes” too. Which ironically I found to be a very insightful observation... that remark about anime fans today can really apply to all entertainment media and even society in general. In our culture of instant gratification today, we have the convenience of streaming content, sure. But maybe we also lost some degree of appreciation of that content, because it’s so easy to move on to more content, watch it anywhere on your phone, and so on. Maybe it’s a double-edged sword.

thanks. i guess I can call that the hidden easter egg.

I have the signatures of three manga ka. To Terra creator Keiko Takemiya came to Vancouver to give some panels, and I got to meet her there. Deb Aoki took my copy of Pulp to TCAF and got Taiyo Matsumoto to sign it. And my prize signature is a hand written message from Tetsuya Chiba on a postcard sized Ashita No Joe art print. I wrote him and sent him a sketch I did of Joe standing next to Canadian boxing legend George Chuvalo and Chiba sensei sent me the signed print.

Did you use BBSs?
@WilliamChow2 жыл бұрын
Yes, I use to run. Prototype BBS on a USRobotics 33.6k v.42bis external modem back in the day. We were part of the FidoNet network and we also got usenet feed from questor.org too.

You think that's bad? I saw one person in line with a manga of the anime that this person likes trying to get a voice actor to sign it. I think he signed it anyway because the line was long and at that point of he was signing anything that was put in front of him.
@WilliamChow5 жыл бұрын
I think I still got it somewhere, but I have Magic The Gathering Card, "The Crystal Rod" signed by George Takai (Sulu of Star Trek) because they guy had nothing else to sign?
@animatsuri5 жыл бұрын
@@WilliamChow I guess if all you're looking for is an autograph that's fine. Actors usually have photos of themselves you can pick out to get autographed. George must have run out of those.
@WilliamChow5 жыл бұрын
@@animatsuri At the time, those photographs cost $20 US but they'll sign them for free. Not like now a days, it'll cost you $50 for a signature and you will still have to bring your own thing.
