And people can argue about history hours and hours, but I feel like they never listen. They eather say I'm too biased or I should educate myself. I've spent months on studying the whole conflict and maybe it was partly the weakness of Zviad Gamsakhurdia and his speeches that made the conflict deepening even more. But I can't say that he was a far-right ultranationalist. He was a nationalist, which itself isn't a problem, being devoted to your own nation and loving it is the right way. But he was unable to keep the country united, probably because he had no experience in politics. The whole problem started with the Ossetian demand of more authonomy (it was an authonomous oblast) and the Abkhaz secessionist movement. So how should a newly elected president react? Probably not very kindly. So it's the least thing to send the police forces to the breakaway regions. If they resist, the military is needed. We know the Sakartvelos Mkhedrioni weren't really conducted by the president, and I admit that they commited some atrocities. They were a poorly organized paramilitary militia, not a real national military army. So the president with his political weakness had no chance to control them. I mean they even made a coup d'etat against him, saying he was too dictatorial, said people who were former so called "legal criminals" in the old Soviet society, people like Jaba Ioseliani or Tengiz Kitovani. A bit hypocritic, isn't it? I personally know a former Soviet general and later on Mkhedrioni head, Gia Vashakidze. He is a kind, but strong amd tough personality for me. He never in his career commited any cruelties in the war, he is a man of honour. He is one of the examples that show that not even all of the Mkhedrionis were such criminals and murderers.

As an American I learned most of my history from historical games. Georgia has always been an interesting and fascinating place for me. I plan to visit Batumi soon. I played Colchis, Pontus, and Cimmeria alot in Rome 2 total war. I also play this region alot in Crusader Kings 2. I find it interesting that kings built the entire kingdom but it was all lost under a queen... Cheers.

Great video, but why did you skip the era when Georgia became a part of the Russian Empire in the 19th century? It is a crucial period of history, especially since two of the Caucasian administrative units, those of Kutais and Tiflis Governorates, later composed the borders of independent Georgia. Plus, whenever Georgia was annexed and split between other foreign powers, like the Ottomans and Persians, it was labeled and included in the video. So I think it only makes sense to also include the period of Russian annexation. Otherwise, great work and keep it up

Ottoman georgia and safavid(not perisan) georgia were vassal . But russian georgia was not country and soviet georgia was a soviet republic not a vassal or independent country .

You forgot to mention Vakhtang Gorgasali, Also Colchis from the beginning had lands till Trabzon and sinope. Bagrat III of Georgia had also Kakhet-Hereti in his domain, he had all lands except Tbilisi. Also you skipped over Giorgi V the brilliant's map, he had returned all the old influences of Georgia and vassal states
