I was going to comment that a mention to usage based linguistics would have been nice, but wow this is a 12 year old video. Thanks for it!

Hello Bẳttâ Shïñy. History of Linguistics is the account of occurrences related to Linguistics in a timeline. Historical Linguistics on the other hand, is an approach to language analysis. Language can be analysed diachronically, through a period of time; or synchronically, at a specific point in time.

But Linguistics now has long left Chomsky behind...and now people do go back to looking at words rather than phrase rules (Dependency Grammars) or entire segments or sentences based on what is indeed observed..and there is no structure like Chomsky proposed. But your lecture gives listeners the impression that Chomskian linguistics is compemporary?

@@Evhano Yes, thank you. BUt Cognitive Linguistics has been booming since the 1980s and dependency-based grammar has boomed in the 20th century. Nowadays, Construction Grammar is also popular. I just do not understand why so many people think that Generative grammar equals modern linguistics. But thanks. I liked the video.
