I used to know an old local man who'd lived in Mixenden from birth, he told me that he was born in 1920 and he was ten years old when Cedar Grove was demolished, so that would put it at 1930. I remember in the mid 1960's the stone foundations of the stables were still visable running parallel with the wall on Seed Hill Terrace. The house was demolished due to land subsidence caused by the many natural springs that run underground to the Hebble Brook. I live on Seed Hill Terrace and there is one of the springs flowing under my cellar, when we have heavy rain the water rises above the cellars flagstone floor. Mixenden has many natural springs, it is an excellent catchment area for water, that's why a reservoir was constructed here.

When I first met my wife she owned a flat in Dodge Home Court, one of the towers and we would sometimes drink in The Jumples. It was "interesting". A huge shame I didn't know any of this stuff in that brief period, as I have great interest in archaeology and medieval history...

You need to be a speed reader, to view all the information written. Slow it down abut so we can see where and what ,you’re trying to show. Very interesting though.

Do you not know how to hit pause/stop? It's not too onerous an exercise...
