@@ShredzShop I think so too. Also THPS was more family friendly. Skate and destroy was more sim like, had cops chasing you and had a pretty gritty art style 😁They asked Tony Hawk if he would be intrested about skate and destroy but he declined. You can still see the similarities with the main character Axl and old-school Tony 😁I found a lot of great groups because of that game for example A Tribe Called Quest.

Went on to the EA games for video skating, and was already thinking of trying it IRL again when my friend showed up with a deck one day asking if I could teach him to ollie. He lasted about a month before going on to less difficult hobbies, but I've kept with it ever since. A lot of people started skating just because of the Tony Hawk video game. It was Tony's idea to put other real pro skaters into the game instead of crazy game characters like the producers wanted. Which was genius, since people then were searching out their video parts and because they were street skaters like Muska, Kareem, Reynolds and Rodney in it, people actually felt compelled to try their tricks and start skating themselves, since it makes much more sense/is much easier to start riding a skateboard around your neighborhood than having to find a halfpipe and learning how to drop in.

My favourite secret character is Doom Guy who's exclusive to the PC version of Pro Skater 3. you unlock him by putting in the cheat code IDKFA which is the unlock all weapons code in the original Doom You can find a skateboard in doomguy's Base in Doom Eternal, Perhaps his Cameo in the port is canonical!

Thrasher skate and destroy was the shit back in the day, all the homies were obsessed with it. Was just so much more realistic than those, they need to make a sequel.

Thrasher was sick and also there was a game on ps2 that I can’t remember I think it was mention on here it was called street skater or something there was two of them, but it was pretty good as well. There’s a game on on Nintendo that was two Games in one and it was called like active sports or something and had surfing and skating and u just skates down a highway and surfed a endless wave. I’m

Spider-Man was interesting for Tony Hawk 2 and I loved to play as him. But personally my favorite secret skater has got to be Green Day member Billie Joe Armstrong from Tony Hawk American Wasteland

IMO Tony Hawk's Project 8 was one of the more forward thinking games in the THPS series and doesn't get it's flowers much, probably because it was a release title for the PS3, but the PS2 version released a few weeks prior and was highly limited compared to the PS3 version. I remember most of my friends had the PS2 version because it came out first and when they got a PS3 they didn't get the better version of the game that didn't have load times to go between sections of the map and had highly upgraded graphics/performance. The weird slowmo nail the trick dual stick foot/board control mechanic was super sick and definitely was an interesting predecessor to EA's flickit controls (and honestly the SkaterXL/Session control systems with independent L/R foot stick control). Also I think there was something like the hall of meat stuff from the EA series as well.

That's a good take! Seems to be one of the least well received games, glad you enjoyed though! I lost track of the games after THPS3.
@antondoty55522 жыл бұрын
@@ShredzShop Yeah totally, I think it released at a time where the formula was getting really stale, and they tried to switch it up a bit with American Wasteland, kinda blew it on a few things (like including BMX as a mandatory part of the game), then went the opposite direction with Project 8 trying to make a super skate-forward, less story/location driven game and folks didn't love it. There was also no real world influence on locations, they were more generalized, so I think folks missed skating classic spots in-game as well.

EA Skate was groundbreaking but also absolutely amazing and super fun to play. The new mechanics made it way better and more like skateboarding and not just spamming buttons for combos on THPS. People are still playing Skate 3 and heavily waiting for Skate 4 to drop.
