Fun fact Swift was created by one of the most famous blind men in American history. It actually stands for Stevie Wonders Institute For Trucking. It explains why they have so many wrecks. Even Ray Charles can see the problem with the drivers

You missed the part about when Swift took over MS Carriers in or around 2000
@cschuh4695 Жыл бұрын
I drove for MS Carriers for 6 weeks. That was the SORRIEST trucking company I EVER worked for. "Get Miles, Get Home"??? Spoiler alert: It doesn't work that way... Either you get miles OR you get home... But not both... In those 6 weeks, I grossed less than $1,500... With several years of experience and zero accidents, I was assigned to a ratty old P-O-S cabover, while the drivers fresh out of school got all the new Centurys to destroy... Every time I went to a terminal, the shop would change the road speed setting on this truck - 61, 64, 66, 63 - constantly being changed by mechanics... After sitting at the Atlanta terminal all day and into the evening waiting on a load, they had the audacity to dispatch me 1 (YES, ONE) mile to the Kroger building RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET!!! I WAS SCREAMIN' MAD, AND FIT TO BE TIED!!! I finally made it back to the Memphis yard, parked at the front door, walked inside and said, (LOUDLY) "Which cubicle should I take these keys to, cuz I'm done with this schitt... MS Carriers was TRULY a SAD STATE OF AFFAIRS... I imagine that SWIFT folded that sad state into their own inner workings...

My Uncle was the head of the repair Shop of Cooper MTL when Swift bought them, He had previously leased 1 to 3 tractors to Cooper for years. and they offered him the job of being their first shop manager and he sold his trucks and went to work for them. After Swift bought them he was there for about 3 years and then built and opened his own truck repair shop, in Duncan SC.

My RECAPs were always bumpin' 69 hours/8 days... When my mother passed away, I had just left the Pittston yard with a California load... They stopped me in Harrisburg, sent a team for my trailer, and told me to bobtail home to Buffalo... TRL was good-as-gold in my book, and I really hated to see them swallowed into the mess of Prime, Inc...

Most of the big carriers are based in the south, Midwest, or some other place with a large population. I suggest doing a vid on the history of Cole transportation. This company was an integral part of life in Maine, especially in the north. The founder was a wonderful man, he was very active in the community and was also a WW2 hero. I find it funny, you use a Simon Transport rig, instead of an actual Dick Simon truck. Here is some history. Swift bought out Dick Simon, because Simon declared Bankruptcy after a Simon driver played kamikaze with the California State capitol building. Swift bought out Dick Simon and renamed it Central Refrigerated Transportation. The Simon Transport rig, in your video belongs to the company owned by Lyn Simon, who was one of Dick's sons. The other big Simon still in the game is Kelley with Kelles Transport Service.
@hewhohasnoidentity43773 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I noticed something didn't look right about the truck shown. Back in 99 I took a friend to the SLC Dick Simon yard that ended up going to Central. In 2002 I began a 15 year prison term in trucking. There are STILL some old skunk trailers on the road today.
