They didn't even need to exist, in all honesty. Newtypes didn't exactly start multiplying into massive numbers, or at least not enough to stop the repeating cycle of Newtype weapons being made and then phased out because there aren't enough to use them en masse. Typical UC stuff I guess.

Yuu Kajima is also said to be one of the Jegan pilots during the Second Neo Zeon War. He tried to help Amuro push back Axis. I think he was the one who tried to save that Geara Doga from floating up to the top of Axis when its engine overheated.

This is . . . honestly quite sad. Imagine that your soul is trapped within that unstable system, wanting to reach out to people for help to be set free, yet you only cause them to go through something you yourself would not want to go through. I feel for Marion and Yuu, and luckily for Yuu, in one ending anyway, he did her a great favor, which I guess works out well in the end. However, hearing the alternate ending made me choke up a bit.

Thanks for covering the Blue Destiny / EXAM system I first heard about both during the game: Gundam: The Lost Wars Chronicles. In that game, you will eventually be able to access the Blue Destiny 01... and it's special feature is that if it's HP is reduced to about 30% - 40%, it enters EXAM mode, which increases all of the unit's stats except HP and Armor, your beam saber's effective range increases, and your thruster gauge wont be depleted. The unit was one of the ones I really enjoyed using, and led to me read up more about the manga. The manga I read ended with Yuu defeating Nimbus and the destruction of Efreet and BD01. Yuu also sees Marion, and he vowed to help free her, to which Marion gives him a heartfelt smile and a thank you before disappearing Unfortunately, I wasn't able to read the other half of this... so thank you for the new information you brought in. Although games are NOT canon, you can use Marion Welch as a pilot in G Generation Games... so in some form, she is still alive and well :) If I use her, I generally have her pilot one of the EXAM units... yea... I'm a terrible person XD

Fun fact: In the EXVS manga, she and Quattro(who she knows is Char), helps to restore the EXAM system, and the Blue Destiny(with the GM head, and all). It was severely damaged in combat with the Gundam Mk-II unit 0(aka trial unit), which was piloted by another Cyber Newtype from the Murasame labs.

Being perfectly honest here, the lore behind the EXAM System and how it works is the main reason why I prefer it over its successor, the HADES System. Don't get me wrong, losing control of an already deadly Mobile Suit as it flies off the handle on a rampage unable to distinguish friend from foe doesn't exactly sound fun, and the way EXAM was developed is all kinds of cruel towards poor Marion, but it'd sound infinitely more appealing to me than eventually forgetting who I am as a person if I were a given a split-second choice between piloting a unit with EXAM and piloting a unit with HADES. Plus, if EXAM didn't kill me after the first go and I was able to respond to Marion's cry for help, it'd give me a reason to fight beyond whatever propaganda the politicians are spouting. To see the war to a peaceful resolution and Marion released from the clutches of the system she was sacrificed to, intentionally or not, by that blue-haired bastard Chlust. If I were in Marion's shoes, I'd want out of that cold, cruel, unforgiving digital prison as well. If I were in Yuu's shoes, I'd want to do everything in my power to help free her from her prison at best, or, if her physical body did, in fact, fail without her soul, at least help her pass on to a better place, free from the cruelties of war.

Yeah, I'm iffy about NITRO, myself. Sanity is relative anyway, but I'd rather not slowly go batshit insane from using a computer system to access Psycommu Weaponry, thank you very much. I'd either want basic EXAM until the events of Blue Destiny happen, a Quasai-Psycommu System, or one of those Bio Computers from F91. I can handle being restricted to INCOMS at best for remote weaponry if it means I don't have to deal with gradual memory loss or insanity.

A couple of ideas for Morse clust’ defection to the federation is his fear of newtype dominance . Why simply allow Zeon the power of both the exam system and real new types ? Giving the federation this power as well help balance things out regardless of who wins the war seem like a plausible idea. Also the federation in future conflicts have been anti newtype with cyber newtype and, hades and NTD system that it help make them a safe bet for clust to assist to win the war.

To me, I felt that the tragic origin about the EXAM System can be consider a ghost story given Marion Whelch's soul is trapped inside the system. She tried to reach out at the pilots who use this to set her free but only for them to be in a state of trauma for using the EXAM System too much leading them to go berserk. Glad this compelling but tragic origin got me interested to buy the HGUC Blue Destiny Unit 1(Revive version) gunpla weeks ago due to the EXAM System, which is consider the early predecessor of the infamous NT-D Mode from Gundam Unicorn.

Hm. I have a theory that RX-0 03 phenex under went something similar.the exam system doesn't have a psicomu and a soul still became traped. so I hypothesize that the RX-0 03 designed for newtypes has a far higher likelihood of traping the soul of its pilot.

I think this also the same with Alaya-Vijnana from IBO making the eyes of the suit red, increasing the suit's power without making the pilot go berserk but the only problem with the Alaya-Vijnana is that the pilot is directly connected to the suit so what happens to the suit will happen to the pilot for example the battle of Barbatos with the Hashmal. The suit in the end was totally wrecked and damaged and this caused Mikazuki to lose control of his limbs making him unable to move except if he is the directly connected to Barbatos via Alaya-Vijnana.

The ALICE system is an A.I system ibstalled in the MSA-0011 S Gundam meant to aid its pilot in battle. The units using these systems share the same trait with EXAM, which is glowing red sensors.

Personally I doubt the info of the BD series having the magnetic coating is likely hogwash someone just threw in at some point. Because even the Pale Rider which was supposed to be one of the most powerful MS made by the Federation during the OYW isn't directly stated to have it despite being developed from both the Gundam Alex and Blue Destiny series, plus the RX 4, 5 and GM Sniper II as well. Also MS like the Gundam Pixie and Gundam Slave Wraith seemed to be able to keep up with and fend off the Pale Rider. I honestly think very few MS were equipped with magnetic joint coating at the time and the material was only standardized with later MS starting with the mass produced MS-11 Act Zaku. However there may have been an alternative to mag joint coating. Zeon's development of the Acguy may be a clue. New next gen lubricants were used in it's joints to improve it's physical mobility as well as reduce noise. I think it may be possible similar materials were used in the joints of high end MS on both sides during the war. If so it could have a similar enhancement effect on mobility.

A bit of fan fiction for the hell of it, I like to believe that EXAMS story will not and dose not end maybe it will be expanded on in other side stories or yet to be released UC story lines. However I think the Unicorns (NT-D) mode explanation and origin is kinda weak if not completely just taken as cannon for face value so I believe that once the two projects where combined the HADES and EXAM salvaged from the battle field by the wealthy and independent Vist Foundation the final product was the (NT-D System).

The soul trapping of newtypes eventually culminates in an alternate time line anime of gundam X. D.O.M.E and the L-system being the system that turns newtypes becoming components of weapons. Hopefully you don't just end this line of videoa after Hades and Alice system. Even the NT-D is based on the Exam system concept. Though we need more details on the narrative gundam which might have a similar system.
