I appreciate your efforts to bring this history to the present generation. We would like to get it more clearer. And to achieve this goal. I advice you to give your questions to this old gentleman in advance so he can respond more accurately to your questions. Make it more educative for the young generations. Thankyou very much.

Shukran sana @josephKarani9773 We continue to learn. Unfortunately my grandpa passed away a few weeks ago before we could do more educational content like this. But I shall continue to seek out more of his peers who are equally as knowledgeable in the subject matter.

Someone has said this Mzee passed on. It is very sad that we have lost a rich undocumented history of the maragoli people of the Luhya sub tribe. I cry in my heart and wonder, what happened to our history research departments at our universities? Western and Nyanza regions are blessed with well funded universities that can play a crucial role to collect data, preserve, and disseminate for posterity. Or just write historical books. Hon. James Osogo tried by writing a little about the history of the Luhya people which perspectively appeared shallow. It mentioned maragoli people, and their closely related kisii and suba in Nyanza.

This leaves more questions than answers. Maragolis are closely related to people from northern Tanzania. Also Kisii and Kuria. I understand Mlogoli was a Maragoli Priest who led the Maragoli to the current location which extended all the way to "Kusuma" aka Kisumu.

I am from Abagusii community. Our traditions claim that we are related to Abaragori, we parted ways past Yimbo as we proceeded to Kisumu. The environment in Kisumu was harsh for us, we left for Kabianga (Kabianga is a Gusii saying meaning 'everything has failed to work') in Kericho, where hostile Kalenjins drove us to present-day Gusii Highlands. Omogusii first settled in Kiabonyoru ( a hilly yet fertile place. Kiabonyoru is like 'newfound') - a place of peace and stability.

This history is not coming out so clear. From the beginning only four clans made Maragolis. What about other clans that we know of today like Vatembuli, Vasaniaga etc? Are Tirikis modified Maragolis? It is not so clear.
@4thcandlemediatv Жыл бұрын
In every community in Kenya we have the root clans and the sub-clans. You'll find that the ones you mentioned are sub-clans. That's why we say "Mwifa Mmavi" for instance.
