Apart from the nostalgia-driven film that's already a DECADE old, Disney has really dropped the ball with the Muppets. Never did I think in my lifetime there would be American children that couldn't name Kermit, Fozzie, Gonzo, etc. But apparently the powers-that-be have arrived at the conclusion that if it isn't photo-realistic through the miracle of CGI or if it doesn't explode, today's kids - not even just kids - today's *audiences* aren't interested. Puppetry - and the ingenius kind of writing that kept The Muppet Show hilarious with double entendres for adults and mezmerizing for the kids whose heads those double entendres went way over - is dying way before its time.

I can tell you that isn't the case. Puppetry will always be there, because it's a real tangible art form. The Muppet live shows Disney did were widely successful.

I don't buy into the whole " powers that be" mumbo jumbo. In the age of the internet, anyone can get their stuff out there.
@giggles7179
@giggles7179 Жыл бұрын
@@patrickmanway290 As a clarification, I was referring to the fact that years after Jim Henson relented and signed the Muppets over to Disney, they've done very little with them. And as they own the Muppets, there's not much that anyone else can do with the franchise without paying massive licensing fees - and that's only if Disney would even agree to licensing them out, which seems highly unlikely. Perhaps I should have been more specific with whom I was referring to when I referred to "the powers-that-be." That phrase can be substituted with "Disney executives."
