My grandfather was a 7th degree black belt trained under Walter Mattson, who trained under George Mattson who was trained by Kanei Uechi.

Nice documentary. As others have noted, there is a noticeable lack of intention and focus in your demonstrations. Power, speed, rhythm, and focus are attributes that must be developed and demonstrated during training.

3rd form reminds me of a Juk Lum Southern Mantis form, probably the origin of it. The 1st is of course Crane. Very cool style. Simple is better.

Uechi ryu is the hardest style of karate closely up there with kyokushin....but this gentleman on screen looks like he needs to eat more

Sanchin stance and leg pose looks vaguely resembled to wing chun stance and form

I am assuming that uechi ryu could be deeived from kung fu, specifically wing chun but combined with traditional Okinawa karate. Goju ryu also derived from kung fu but with a crane based form.

There is more to practicing a kata than simply going through the movements. You need more conditioning in my opinion.

guys I respect it how you respect it old school karate but do not film yourselves because you do it very lamely... on all of them wrong...a posture, the hits and defences etc

I hope they have a lot more in their skill set if they ever need to actually defend themselves. I'm guessing they may be junior black belts.

You seem to have a knowledge on this, I wonder if you have any videos of you doing better, I would love to see that, no disrespect!

I think it’s good that he filmed himself. It can help see the mistakes of his techniques
