The whole out of order release was WEIRD to live through in person, especially when following every bit of news ASAP wasn't nearly as much of a common habit as now. The funny sad part of the out of order release period was when certain clans and that means just Megacolony because fkk bugs apaprently, got their season 2 support before their season 1 support.

5:41 Sadly it wouldn't be until G-Era (Late 2014-2015) where Trial Decks would actually come with 2 PGs & 2 copies of your Ace Unit. Meaning before that (2012-2014) you HAD to buy 4 copies of a Trial Deck to have 4 copies of your Ace Unit.

@@CurlyHairedVanguard Yea, and with most decks at the time almost NEEDING CB, it was very hard to get around even while owning Vanilla PGs. To this day, I think what Bushi should have done was increase the Dmg count to 7 to make up for the powercreep introduced in later formats. And definitely decrease how much ppl can rush early game (because 3, or ESPECIALLY 4 dmg before someone rides into their 1st grade 3 turn is just a big no no)

Really funny how prior to overdressed they have good blueprint from gold paladin start deck but refused to make it again.

In retrospect, getting the set's out of order was for the best since it introduced more playable decks than just Royal Pal vs Kagero. Plus, Granblue didn't need to wait 4 sets to get their support. As to why Thanatos didn't see play, it's because he just wasn't worth it in a lot of ways. Basskirk decks preferred spending their CBs for Samurai Spirit and Nightmist, considering their revival wasn't a swap and a +1 due to Cutlass spam making their revival more feasible. Hell, even Negromarl and Skull Dragon were preferred Grade 3s over Thanatos since Basskirk decks already ran Romario, making Negromarl reviving Romario a free 16k column and Skull Dragon a 21k push at critical points. In Cocytus decks, since you already ran Superior Ride pieces for both Exceed and Swordmaster, you'd often prefer to not ride Cocytus right away, due to early game states leaving you with a rather barren drop zone. This made the superior ride much more attractive as a Grade 3 option over Cocytus. Exceed was also worth noting that it fueled up the soul as well, giving more consistency to the Deadly G1 and 2s along with Cutlass. So if Thanatos was to be added, some of these options for Basskirk and Cocytus had to be sacrificed. And what do you get in return? A card that only worked if hitting the VG, the revived card doesn't keep any trigger boosts, and you can't make a full column with it unless you revived a Negromarl, which you wouldn't normally want to run in Cocytus due to the CB overlap. To make Thanatos work, he had to either have been a Grade 2 so he doesn't conflict with the Grade 3 options, Granblue would've needed more options to form a 16k column with 1 revival during the battle phase, and you'd most likely needed to run Stands to allow Thanatos more chances to hit, which was ALSO not ideal as one of Granblue's niche at the time was the access to 3 Crits in a single clan. I'm sure you'll cover it later, but Alice was better Thanatos due to the deck having Purple Trapezist, which did allow for the "option to form 16k columns" to happen.

Great Silver Wolf Garmore was the GOAT at the time due to the ability to search for his own personal booster in Charjgal, allowing it to hit 26k with LB4 active. The fact someone actually won a shop tourney with it, in an environment filled with Big 3s, speaks for itself.

@@vvv_vimeru668 strides aren't that bad until they introduced like GB8/Dominate stuff then the powercreep that was GZ. Gifts were like nukes from the getgo

@@aigakomine Stride was horribly designed from day 1. Decks were "Stride every single turn or your deck phisically does not function" much worse with the godwaful Generation Break keyword, add how going second was basically a guaranteed auto-win button so badly balanced that g2 stalling became a thing. Then there was the fake promise that Stride supported old decks when in reality you'd just end with a worse version of the current deck and no synergy or benefit. Gift markers were not problematic in the slightest until vomiting 3 or 4 Force/Accels in one turn became a thing and even then not every deck is vomit 3 Gifts per turn whereas every deck in G was Stride or die.

@@elin111 If Gift markers weren't an issue, do explain why they had to reboot the game a second time & completely gave up on the gift mechanic 💀💀 G2 stalling & Striding are two completely separate topics, the only reason G2 Stalling existed was because Bushi didn't think to limit the grade 1s that attack for 9k/10k on their own :p During Mid G-season they did support older decks, like Eradicators, Seal Dragons, Battle Sisters, Brawlers, etc. so your argument of not supporting older stuff is invalid. Gift Markers was worse as it essentially FORCED you to ride into a grade 3 with a Gift each turn or you essentially just lose. In G, you could skip a stride turn or two without reaping so much repercussions. Bradblack is a V Card that gives the whole front whole 30k IN ADDITION to receiving a Force Marker. Do explain how just adding 40k to the whole frontrow on 1st grade 3 turn is balanced. 💀 The fact you have to damage deny players so they can't play their deck efficiently in V format just says a lot about the powercreep that it introduced.

Man if Blond Ezel had his Zero effect, i'd be using that version even know. The clan doesn't have many low cost repeatable act call skills that check more than just the top card. Heck i think a promo retrain of Battle Flag Knight Laudine that did do so is still not even in english and she was a promo from early V Series.

If I were playing that Granblue list I'd 100% cut Ruin Shade for Pietro. Anyone who's touched Cristianos will tell you why mill 2 is not a good way to put the pieces you want in drop. Even with no OT to mill back then it still sucked to mill 2 crits because Ruin Shade sucks.

Limit Break was bushiroads best handled and balanced mechanic in the history of their card games, the fact is came at the risk at being close to a loss while also having the risk of being deactivated from a poorly timed heal trigger, I still remember one of my funniest losses I attacked with garmore opponent guarded for 2 pass, hit a crit, hit a heal, but I lost my limit break losing the 5k boost meaning I couldn't hit lol lost the next turn but not even mad cuz it was such a cool way for interaction also taught me to go to 5 and save shield for later lol I loved this format so much, played Duke with 2 ezel 2 garmore, sadly only had 3 PGs cuz they were so expensive and popular but I feel like while pack filler was a huge issue, I'd take the more balanced and nuanced card design over the sheer broken mess OverDress currently is.

Limit Break was less of a mechanic more of a "your deck is vanilla until you're nearly dead" proven by how every post LB-era support was basically just removing the entire condition out of the mechanic as if an admittance that it was dumb. Pretending there was no horribly broken badly designed messes in Limit Break era is pure nostalgia biased favoritism too.

@@elin111 It was not an admittance of it being dumb, it's just mechanics introduced in the very beginning of the game. Of course they had to modernize it & make it somehow compete with all the newer stuff.💀 Like saying Dark Magician was one of the worst cards ever made when it was the start of Yugioh 💀 Bro just has L take after L take
