In German there is a phrase "Nul acht fuenfzehn" which means simple, unremarkable, standard, reliable. It's a phrase that was in relatively common usage when I was growing up in the 1990's, an I suspect it's still in use today. What many people don't realize is that the phrase refers to the old MG08/15... funny how things can love on culturally.

Amazing episode on an amazing piece of engineering and history as usual. Can’t wait for the second part. BTW the look on Mae’s face while firing was hilarious. Great video, worth the wait as usual. Mae looked like she was having a great time, looks like the deadly weapon ive always read about. 90 metres is a long way to run with one of those firing. A relative of mine, Bodo Singe, sounds the same as when you burn/singe something. His medical report says he was hit 7 times, from calves, thigh, hip, abdomen to shoulder, pretty sure the poor bastard got hit with a burst from one of these. Survived the war, only the luck ran out and he was killed 10 years later in a motorcycle accident. Just realised that might sound spooky before your road trip but im sure you're a great rider. Damn, I was like number 999 almost got the 1000

Love this amount of history you throw out there and in a relatable way. I just drove through Denver in April, but there was a whole slew of cool things on I-70. There not much between St. Louis and Denver, but Salina, Kansas was a good half way stopping point between the two.

Hiram Percy Maxim, Hiram Stevens Maxim's son, founded the ARRL (American Radio Relay League), the largest organization for amateur (ham) radio operators in the USA. Ham operators around the world know who Percy was.
