Othias, Not everyone would swoon to hear the fortunes of the Echeverria family and their many defunct, certified past videos. Surely you know this, and yet you take the time to go into every detail you can possibly find, crafting each video to be a definitive source. The research must at ti.es be frustrating and exhausting. Keep up the good work. There will come a time in perhaps another hundred years, when the bulk of what is known about firearms of this era will be based on you and Mae's work. Thank you for building such a quality product in the C & Arsenal series!

Perhaps mentioned in previous episode, the Eibar manufacturers were copyist of the first order. I believe Spanish patent law, at least at that time, honored patents if the patented firearm was made in Spain, so knocking off Belgian, French, US, and so on, designs was legal in that sense. I'll guess with France's need for firearms, patent law would be either ignored or circumvented. I have also heard this even applied to the name "Star" which sounded much like "Steyr".

Eibar, where guns are given Damascene gold!!!! Most beautiful and ornate gold "etching" (it's not etched they use gold wire and gold sheet and a hammer to make a type of filigree in the shape of animals and flowers with scroll work, the Toledo style is more moorish). It's wonderful stuff.

OR we get better at our jobs, gather more data and resources, develop an audience understanding of just what the rest of the world really was doing at the time, and have more time to possibly visit Springfield. It is more about taking an already well known gun and getting it right, which gets harder the more people have written speculative bullshit about.
