The legend is back! You inspired me to start collecting, I had studied for a long time and a couple months ago I got an GY66 m35 Austro-Hungarian helmet alongside two US Vietnam era M1 Helmets. After some time of collecting I've gotten some awesome pieces of history like a piece of trench art from the battle of Verdun, a Prussian helmet, ammo crates, etc. Thinking back to it I owe it all to you. These past weeks have not been so great for me and my family for reasons of which I will not get into here but watching your videos really helped me get through it. You should do another trench video if you get the chance I think that would be pretty cool. I don't want to type too much so I'll stop myself here, thanks so much for everything and have a good day

I have several of these helmets. The dazzle camouflage was only used by elite Stosstruppen (Stormtrooper) battalions & not the regular army. The soldiers were given cans of paint, the same colours & paint used as the Lozenge patterning on Imperial German aircraft. The soldiers were issued with brushes & paint that was available in the field & they would gather together & paint these very quickly. Each man painted his own helmet & then used black to break the colours up. There were guidelines & specifications issued to do with colours next to each other & the width of the black lines. For a guide to the basic helmet colour use Humbrol Bronze-Green. For the disruptive camouflage colours research the colours used on German aircraft for the Lozenge patterns found on the underside of the wings. Not all colours were used, the soldiers used whatever they were given & what was available in the field. Some soldiers used them like this others would drop dry sand onto the still wet paint to dull the surface down. It was a very low-tech application but it was very effective.

That intro hit close to home for me since its very similar to how the past six months have been for me and my fiance. Just the inverse I guess haha. I flew from washington state to Bayern in December and officially immigrated for work here a few weeks ago. Found this video through my research on doing an impression for der erste weltkrieg, but that was to close to home for me not to comment. My favorite type of camouflage is the World War I and the World War II par trooper like with the leaves and stuff with the net and stuff. I even have a World War II par trooper helmet. It has a net but I don’t really like to add the leaves and stuff and it’s real steel like your helmets.
