It is swelteringly hot inside the fighting compartment of a Centurion. In this part of the world, you are meat, inside of a metal box in the sun. And now, in this dark steel room, you have your two brothers from another mother, staring down the guns of a few thousand Syrian tanks. The gun thunders, and your hands are already working the breech, loading another shell, praying desperately for enemy to miss, to shoot just wide enough that a lethal hit skitters away, strikes the berm- The gunner crows triumphantly. A hit, a kill, even. You shout that it's loaded and cheer your brothers on. Another blast, distantly you can hear others, and the vehicle shake a little as artillery falls down. The cannon is loaded again, your throat already sore but you shout confirmation anyways.

@@1chibanKasuga Actually Israel declared independence from Britain in 1948, within the framework of a UN peace charter that gave the Palestinian Arabs 42% of the land, 56% to the Jews, and 2% to an international zone in Jerusalem. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Nations_Partition_Plan_for_Palestine# The Jews completely accepted the plan, which would have led to the creation of a Palestinian Arab nation. The Arabs outright rejected the plan though, and then the nations of Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Transjordan, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Yemen, and Palestinian Arab groups all invaded the newly declared State of Israel. Israel would then win this war and the borders Israel possesses today are the result of where the frontlines were when there was a ceasefire in the 1948 war and the 1967 and 1973 wars too. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1948_Arab%E2%80%93Israeli_War Israel was attacked first. I've recently taken an Arabic course for Hebrew speakers over Zoom. Once the teacher had us partnered with one random student, we had to talk for 20 minutes in Arabic and write it down. My partner was Moshe, in his late 60s, maybe 70s. He asked me where I live, it's a small place but there's a known tank memorial nearby so I used it as reference. I asked if he knows the memorial and he said that he does because he was a tanker. I asked when he was recruited and he said 1972, when I asked for his brigade, he said 188th. I was shocked to be honest. Statistically I think it is unlikely that he didn't fight in some of the biggest tank battles since the 2nd World War, in a brigade that was cut in half. You'd never guess it though, he is a nice and normal guy, and was a school principal until last year when he retired.

I could have sworn i saw the crewman blink numerous times during this. While watching this video, the main rythm of "Hava Nagila" has already gotten into my head as the Israeli Centurion keeps blowing up numerous Syrian T-55 tanks that are just pouring in, putting together a semi-animated combat masterpiece that even my own poetry wouldn't be able to describe no matter how hard i tried. Remember, the less than 100 Israeli tank brigade was outnumbered and fighting for 3 days in the Golden Age of tank combat where modern thermals and fire control didn't exist. The Syrians had raw numbers, but they lacked the skill, something that Israeli tankers had more than plenty of. The enemy's incompetence even went as far as to just blindly charge into the battlefield, so much so that the T-54's, T-55's and T-62's just kept driving by the Israeli tanks. There is a reason why this engagement, and the area in it was called the "Valley of Tears". I've seen tthe "Valley of Tears" series before, and i have to say. Thank you for making this awesome montage.

Part of the feeling of the older American military videos came to me by the fact that I knew what the guys were saying since I spoke English. This immersion for me is next level, as a Hebrew-speaking Israeli

One Arabian soldier with AK sees an Israeli ATV and starts shooting. At some point he loses all of his ammo. Commander of the ATV comes out and asks: “No ammo?” Arab replies: “None.” Commander: “Need some?” Arab: “Yes.” Commander: “I can sell you some.”

Im bound to see some Palestinian isreali war argument here, because isrealis very obvious use their Zionist propoganda to get reactions out of arabs so they can get off to the fact that arabs are going to be pissed, not all are that aggressive tho, im Palestinian myself and if an isreali or pro isreali brings it up, i shut him the f*ck up if it's in a place were politics is not allowed

@@راميالبنّى-ك4ذ When are you going to realize we are all brothers against tyranny. From both sides of our sadistic and selfish “leadership”. We won’t be able to shake hands until I make sure my corrupt warmongering uncle is out of power or dead and your terrorist cousins turn back to the true peace loving teachings of the Quran. Realize we must play our part, and not in the way evil and sometimes our own hearts encourage us to

A nice tidbit - the events of that battle was one of the reasons the Merkava was designed with the rear hatch - it's meant to facilitate loading shells into the ammo racks flanking that corridor while the tank is dug in, eliminating the need to hoist the shell up to a hatch in the turret or the top of the hull. It's also to facilitate the evacuation of wounded crewmembers from a struck tank, without exposing them to fire, and without the need to maneuver a casualty through the unwieldy roof hatch.
