William Henry Harrison became President in 1841 and died just 31 days later on April 4th, 1841. The government was not prepared for the death of a President and while his family was building a tomb for him in North Bend, Ohio, his body was placed in a temporary crypt in the Congressional Cemetery in Washington D.C. In July 1841 his body was transported to North Bend for his permanent resting place.
In this video we visit Harrison's Tomb and discover the history behind the site that few visitors are aware of.

His wife was the daughter of John Cleves Symmes, the man who purchased the area known as the Symmes purchase. The site where the tomb is as well as Congress Green Cemetary across the street (Symmes is buried in the cemetary) would have been the center of Symmes Town had it worked the way John wanted. -source: signs around the tomb and cemetary

I was there back in August 2000. Toured Presidential sites in Ohio and Indiana. This tomb was very quiet and iron door was locked so could not go inside. Nice stop , and views of Ohio River.

I've visited the tomb a number of times and value the experience. I am saddened at the thought of his untimely death.

I was once friends with a Harrison decendant, from the Scott line. She asked me if I would be her lover. I let her know that I just do not swing that way, and have thought alot about Presidents' decendants ever since that time.
