You really made the rounds at Knoxville, HMM! Great interviews all the way through. Being unfamiliar with the race, I now understand how prestigious and exciting a race it is to qualify for let alone win. And some good words of wisdom from a couple of the drivers about not worrying about the past or the future. I happened to be in need of that reminder. As always, enjoyed the video and thanks for your hard work! 🏁🏎️

Thank you very much for these interviews! Donny Schatz is so laid back at least off the track, maybe that's part of the reason for this success. I usually had a lot of butterflies before a race, especially if I thought I had a chance to win or run good, but I guess lot of drivers, especially the pros don't. But even if you are nervous you do your best to conceal that from the competition. Once the race starts you don't have time to be nervous. I think the actual time behind the wheel is what every driver lives for! And I must be getting old, I remember when Bobby Allen was still scruffy and not only Brady Bacon and Tyler Courtney were basically kids running USAC, but I still remember when Donny Shatz was a newcomer to the WoO.

Outside of a bomber on the Toledo quarter-mile and some go-kart races, I've never driven a racecar; but, knowing my make-up, I'd be plenty nervous about it...but I can also see where the jitters would go away once the race was on. I say we're all getting older but we don't have to get old; don't let the old man in. Heck, I remember when Steve Kinser was just getting into sprint car racing, pre-WoO. Thanks Gregg...HMM

I heard Matt Kenseth say on a podcast that he "fights the old man every day" . I like that expression/ attitude. Although I don't consider myself "old"at least not yet. My Mom is an inspiration to me she's 70 and jogs just about every day.

@@greggrauscher34 We are all getting older but we don't have to get old. My dad is 94 and still walks and rides his bike. He pedaled 90 miles outside in the elements on this 90th birthday. I'm almost 65 and tap dance every Wednesday night...and have for the last 33 years.

@@HistoryMysteryMan that is so cool! What an inspiration! Was your dad the one that helped you get started as a tug captain? My grandmother was very active well into her 90's as well, so hopefully I inherited those genes.

@@greggrauscher34 No...my real dad is the one who is 94. My mom's next marriage was to a Great Lakes Tug Captain who got me started in the industry.

As usual, another interesting series of conversations with some of the sprint car family. You've talked with some of these people in the past, so they know who you are when you approach them. I've wondered how you deal with drivers with whom you have not spent time previously. Do you tell them you are getting content for your KZbin channel? Do you use your background in racing as an “ice breaker”? Of course, after the conversation begins, by commenting on how they've done in previous races or seasons, they will soon know that you are well informed about their racing program. I find it interesting to look at the results of some of the races to see how the people you've talked with were able to place during the race weekend. I Googled “Knoxville Nationals” to look at the results of the feature as well as some of the preliminary races to see how some of people I now “know” finished their races after meeting them on the HMM channel.

Thanks again. I only tell them about my KZbin channel if they ask what the interview is for. Icebreaker-wise, it takes too long to go into my background...and some could care less...so I just rely on my charming personality and hope for the best. Most do the interview, but some decline; it just all depends on the individual...everyone is different, and responds differently. If I have a skill, it may be that I'm able to get people comfortable with me and six seconds or less! I have my share of getting shot down. I don't take it personally and keep marching. Glad I could spark your interest enough that you'd resort to Google! Thanks for your support!
