My mother in law was one of Jack’s nurses at UAB when he had his plane crash. I asked her to get an autograph or a photo and she was adamant she would NOT. He was her patient, not a celebrity. She wouldn’t even talk to family about his injuries. Honorable woman. She passed from Covid in December 2020.

No, jack Roush probably wouldn't do the autograph and she lied to you because she didn't want to ruin the view of your hero. I've worked at Roush, everyone who has met him has the same opinion. I’ve been to countless races with the NextGen cars and they sound amazing with the exhaust coming out both sides. In fact they are louder, meaner, and rumble the ground more than ever. The cars still sound like Cup cars, maybe not that screaming high pitch from back in the day but at the track it’s awesome. At this point there’s no going back to what was. When you see the cars on track it still looks like it has for the last 60 years just evolved over time. Everyone has their favorite era of NASCAR and it usually correlates to when they first fell in loved with it. I see more and more as the years go by that the nostalgia for a certain era also progresses right along with it. We latch on to found memories at a younger age and the older we get the more we long for those days. Yes NASCAR is different to those who’ve seen it change, but in 20 years people will be talking about how great this era was. Those fans are currently the new fans who’ve just found the sport with wide eyes and amazement we’ve all had at some point.
@Stapleton423 ай бұрын
The exhaust "rumbles" louder now because it does not have any type of crossover tube linking both sides of the engine. What you are hearing is two separate 4 cylinder engines with uneven firing pulses that collide with each other creating exaggerated sound waves. That is also why they sound like they are broken or not firing on all cylinders at low rpm. You only hear half the engine. This way of doing the exhaust not only sounds objectively worse to most people, but it is less efficient than the dual exhaust system with crossover still used in Xfinity (which in my opinion sound far better than Cup cars) I am not saying make them back to the way they were in 2005...but advocating for improvements moving forward. Settling for "good enough" isn't how I am wired and that isn't how anything great became great. I want NASCAR to grow and gain new fans. I believe freedom of exhaust design can create a better fan experience by different teams or manufacturers having a sound unique to them on the track. In a world where cars are becoming more and more identical, having a sound distinction can express some individuality without creating any sort of significant advantages for anybody. Not to mention the draw of cars sounding different at different tracks. 30 years later 1 Million people still watched our video about Sterling Marlin's X pipe car. If sound didn't matter to the fan experience we wouldn't be seeing such a massive interest in that car today. People who were at the race or watched it on TV still talk about it. I really believe having a variety of engine sounds would be a great thing.

Sorry for the information splurge, but I've researched just about everything on the Indigo during my spare time. 😅

My dad is a Mark The Kid Martin fan. We both enjoyed the mid 80's through late 90's cars

Very interesting about the ford prototype. That it has all the different ford car parts.

I just watched this once. I'm sure I'll be watching it a few more times. This was amazing like all of your work.

Saw this once at Mark's Fan Days in Batesville. Truly a great experience and only wish Fan Days was still an annual event.
