Around 3:30 it’s not just Scandinavian mythology. The Anglo Saxons, like other Germanic peoples, had the same ancestral religion just with different names and slight variations in myths. It isn’t influenced by Scandinavian mythology. Rather, the designs on the helmet, the ship burial etc. are cultural/ethnic cousins of Scandinavian culture. Otherwise a fantastic video! I’ll definitely be watching more of these.

The Angles came from the Jutland peninsula which is in Scandinavia, but yes they shared an older Indo European Pantheon of gods but due to the Eddas surviving in Iceland we know more myths from Norse culture. Cheers from Mercia

First stop that popped in my head, gave me a bit of a chuckle was the time that little Richard was in one of those award shows where he was going to be presenting an award to a certain Entertainer and when you said hello the winner is ME. And then he went on the tirade about him starting all of rock and roll which was exactly what people like the Beatles the stones even Elvis Presley and so on said to him that if it wasn't for him there would be no rock and roll so he was talking that way people gave him an Applause Standing Ovation for his contribution and then when he opened up the thing to say who the winner was he said well what do you know it is me. So it when I saw that I was thinking I know who would have worn that, Little Richard. R.I.P.

Lets see, same kind of helmets has been found in Sweden around vendel, in many cases. The sphire and sword handle is same kind that is in Sweden, the ship grave is almost exact that was practiced in Sweden and ship the same type. You do not see any possibility that the one who was in the grave came from beginning Sweden? Too many non random things.

Just to make it clear, Odin was the name the Norse later gave to the Germanic Woden. Some of the Anglo-Saxons- the Angles and the Jutes - were from what is now Denmark. The Saxons were from Schleswig Holstein in North East Germany, now called Niedersachsen - lower Saxony.

Odinic Dancers [3:44] are recognised by Odin's Ravens, flying from their heads: injury to one hemisphere of the brain effects short term, conscious Thought (Huginn), the other long term, un-conscious Memory (Muninn). Such dancers are in physical and mental debate, the will (the 8 legged horse, seen from above) is informed by the bird between the brow. The bucks stops with this crown's wearer.

@@rhzyo That's how I read it, but other helms in the same style have a boar on the crest, and I don't think Frey's boar had 8 legs, so it could be an accident of the panelling design.

We don't know is there was a difference between Woden and Odin within the anglo saxons and Scandinavian myths as the anglo saxons became Christians only a few hundred years of migrating to Britain and much of there myths were lost. But we do know that we are talking about the same god. The anglo saxons spoke a west germanic language and the norse spoke a north germanic language. Just different ways of pronouncing the same god. The early proto germanic name for woden/odin is believed to be Wodanaz

It seems misleading to describe the imagery as "Norse". To an uneducated viewer, this might evoke the Viking Age or other periods of Norse cultural influence. It would probably have been more accurate to identify it as Germanic or to say that Woden imagery is reminiscent of Norse, Odinic imagery.
