As someone who works in a career that very much intersects within hobbies (software development, and the hobby of programming), there are a lot of parallels that make this extremely understanding. So many people are like "man, must be nice to play video games as your career", but what many don't realize is that when something you love becomes something that you have to do as a job, where you don't have control of all of the parameters like you would for a hobby, it starts to absolutely take a toll. There's times where I take time off from work, and hop on my home computer and do the same thing in concept, writing code -- but it's for stuff that *I* want to do, and that makes all the difference from a mental health perspective.

He ultimately will never be able to say this, cause the team could get fucked, but I still think he came back to comp to get keon signed. Then quits again, cause he never wanted to play comp but did it as a favour for keon since keon pretty much got watsons career started. This way keon has an org backing him and a good team, madness and obviously vaxlon taking back his old spot. None of this can be said, cause the org could drop them if they felt they were being played.

@DevinHeida
@DevinHeida 5 ай бұрын
@@magnarion part of the deal he said was that he would come back to comp of madness and keon would join, they were doing ranked grind together and meshed but I personally think it would've been to get keon signed. Either he didn't expect this to happen as they were doing well with vaxlon or he had just said it in the moment. His bluff we'll call it, was called and they left vaxlon to join. As watson had said he never did like comp but now if he steps down, he's gotten keon signed and they take back vaxlon. But if goes out right and says his intention was to get them signed and back out right away, it could like he was playing the org and they could drop the team if they wanted to.

He's unbelievably talented and gave us one of the most memorable events in Apex history but he just is not the type of person that's built for competitive. Wattson hit the nail on why becoming pro is the worse idea for your career. You MUST spend hours on a game from afternoon to night, removing your social life and other hobbies. You have to commit to these hours or you're going to be left in the dust. Financially, it is extremely terrible, you make significantly less money than other jobs that don't require the same amount of commitment. You can't even go anywhere with your esports pro life. You have a short life span compared to other careers, and it can become difficult to continue financially after your time is up.

Fair enough. He’s talking about the future of a gaming content career, Apex is one game. It’s going to be hard for a lot of people to accept because their dream is his less preferred option, but that’s just life. Sometimes someone else is going to have something you want so badly and they won’t even care about it. You can feel about that however you want, but if you’re going to judge that you have to try to put yourself in his shoes, and from his perspective it’s obvious. He can either do something he likes, or something he doesn’t anymore.
