That last driver swing where you took out the W was great. As you said, impact/flat left wrist is a “moment in time” as you go from flexion to extension. Great video.

This is hysterical regarding what is taught over decades and generations. I have been playing golf for 58 years. Also used to have all but a dozen Golf and Golf Digests from 1973 forward. Back in the '70s the toe-up in the take away was a hard fact. Non-negotiable by teachers. Particularly pure Swingers. (left shoulder pull, with NO right hand "get the right hand out of your swing" taught back then) You can see it in the frame by frame swings. Particularly Miller. All the best had it in their swings and it was a gotta have. But Noooooo, then you wouldn't have to pay for an infinity of lessons on contact and release. I think what skewed it into unfavorability was the simultaneous arrival of Zack Johnson and the Square to Square Method. All of his career Johnson wasn't a slow/short swinger. He just had his body fully tweaked to square and release a clubface that was actually taken back closed. BTW, if you want to be short and accurate, buy a copy of the Square-to-Square Method. It was a real piece of crap thought up by a premiere teacher of the time and the editor of Golf Digest to make some bucks. It just fascinates me how every decade or so there is some position taught that makes striking a ball well,..... spectacularly difficult. And everybody believes it. The GEM is a perfect counterweight to the clubhead face to keep you on-line in your swing. Ask an Engineer, but the club is perfectly shaped to make a human release naturally.
@golfbulldog2 жыл бұрын
Having made a version of the GEM at home and had a few indoor swings, it seems that the eratic wobble of the weight reduces when force is applied to the shaft in one of 2 ways/orientations. In transition the trail hand pushes the shaft away (rearwards) in the plane of the weight/shaft (ie. weight stick pointing away from target). This continues until the shaft is about hip height and the weight is vertical...then the left shoulder and arm pull the grip end of the shaft and the clubhead is thrown out and the weight is at 90 degrees to the plane. SO ...a combination of in- plane (push) and perpendicular (pull) motions seem to do well. I like the feeling of swinging lead arm only (no ball) from hip height through impact region to shoulder height....very pivot driven pull of the left arm and no erratic weight motion. Hands get well ahead of the clubhead and lots of forward shaft lean..so it seems.

I’ve ordered one, but if you have any relationship with the owners of GEM, I would highly encourage them to put out better content in their training vids. For example, who needs a 2 min vid on what’s in the box. We need more vids that speak to what “feels” we should be feeling and perhaps with someone who looks like they know how to play golf, because the guy who does the vids is doing a disservice to the GEM, meaning doesnt look like he even plays. Just some thoughts.

It's your left shoulder joint. Your natural swing has a counterclockwise shoulder joint rotation from the top down. Your good ones the shoulder joint remains passive allowing your hands to return to the same plane and position that you started from. Or even more shallow. Brendon - what is the frequency of that HackMotion device that you are using? Just wondering how accurate those graphs are for your wrist movements 1 foot before and after impact. If the device only works at 100 Hz there can't be too many data points being measured to draw such detailed graphs.
@BEBETTERGOLF2 жыл бұрын
Great question. I’ll ask
@jackflash87562 жыл бұрын
Any joy? I thought it was 100 Hz which would mean only a few data points measured depending on the speed of the driver swing. If you were swinging at 100 mph that would be 1760 inches/sec. Say you wanted HackMotion to measure your wrist flexion/extension 24 inches before and after impact , that would be approx 48 inches. At 1760 inches per second the time taken would be (1/1760)*48 = 0.027 secs. If at 100Hz there are 100 measurements per second, how many in 0.027secs? That would be 100 x 0.027 = 2.7 measurements (ie. 3 approx) made 2ft before and after impact. How in the world does HackMotion create those detailed graphs? They must be making best guesstimates using smoothing algorithms.

Still looking good. They’ll start calling you Pipeline soon. I’d be curious to see how things go with two separate thought processes on the downswing. One being the split grip feel that Malaska uses, and the other being the releasing the club to 8 o’clock as Monty espouses. It seems like the club would be encouraged to seek either motion with the Gem before planing out with Monty’s cast or Malaska’s level feel. I think you’ve still got some gas in the tank, with the driver in particular, if you can keep from coming off your right side so quickly. And I think the Gem is slowly driving you there. I think you noticed that by referencing what would be Lag’s bow to 4:30 line delivery feel before turning it loose. Your swing is evolving quickly from an athletic am’s swing with some concepts and moves that hold it back to a d**n good swing with no qualifiers attached. Good work.

Interesting stuff. Couple questions? Having seen so many different coaches I often wonder what the hell you think when standing over the ball?? Secondly, so you're discussing moving into extension post impact. Not sure if you are familiar with the term 'under-release' but it sounds like you're on the way to that pattern. Lastly, having just started using H/Motion I wondered about the two modules (wrist/glove) shifting during practice. I mean, they definitely do shift. Plus it's also hard to align them within tight tolerances. Still, a good visual feedback aid. Your swing does look better or more consistent. Keep it up.

I’m not familiar with the hack motion and so I had trouble correlating this video with the previous. I think it might have to do with the previous one focusing on the club face (open vs closed at various positions) and this one with wrist angles. Pardon my ignorance but isn’t a +41 wrist angle at the top extremely closed and contrary to the desirable slightly open position at the top discussed in the first video? Not being snarky here!
@Orthoshooter2 жыл бұрын
If I’m interpreting this correctly (I have not used the Hack Motion sensor) his left wrist is more extended, or cupped, and that means it’s more open…not closed at the top. Hogan was very cupped. We recommend slowing your swing down whilst using the GEM and seeing if the wobble persists. The instructional videos on the website provide a handy guide.

I posted my experience on another post but will share here as well I had the same experience (wobble) to start. My swing fault is flipping or not rotating shoulders enough through (and after) impact. After training with it for a few days, I learned to swing my shoulders around instead of slowing down (or stopping) the shoulders. My shoulders are more open at impact position and after impact position. The wobble goes away and feels light like the backswing. So far so good but have not played a round of golf since starting training with it. Playing on the course will be the real test but it seems to be helping with my specific swing fault.

This device prevents from OTT because it changes the location of rhe club's CG. Once the device removed...Ott lurks back. The real secret is in the golf club...how its been designed and enginnered...thus learn how to swing -compensate this off balanced tool 🥴🥴🥴

The Gem is a complete waste of money in my view , a total waste of time and made no improvement to my swing

I am located in australia where there is no free shipping for gem however even if there was free shipping the price of the gem seems very high for what you get and the over the top packaging does not justify the price.

Make your own like I did. Got the clamp on Amazon. The rest is from the hardware store. 8” steel plumbing pipe, end cap, threaded rod and a nut with lock washer. $15.

I had the same thought: split ring pipe clamp on the handle, threaded rod, and some nuts/washers to weight the ends. Probably wrap the ends in some duct Tape to smooth things over.

@@kurtheitman552 how do you mean " the clamp" . What clamp? if you dont mind me asking
@marcuskingstanley95222 жыл бұрын
The price is a joke. You can get a brand new bike for that
@kurtheitman5522 жыл бұрын
@@warrenrohloff8095 exactly. I used the 8” threaded pipe over the threaded rod to give it more weight. I think if it’s too light, it doesn’t work.
