In this video, we discuss how to hit a true power fade off the tee by making a few subtle changes to your setup and golf swing. This shot is great for effectively widening the fairway, working around trouble, on doglegs, and into tight corner pins.
I've put together a complete program to teach you the Mike Austin Golf Swing, increase your clubhead speed, and hit it solid and pure.. Check it out here:

Switching to a fade last year is so much better than my old draw. Much more controllable and more fairways hit. The low spin hook or right blocked shot is gone forever. It took and entire winter and spring of practice to make new habits but totally worth it.

Very fine explanation. Ever since I started lining up toe line well left of target like Nicklaus in his prime ... I hit twice as many greens in regulation. Golfers that I beat by 10-15 strokes shake their heads and call me "a sliver"!

Hi Steve, thanks for this power fade explanation. You still carried the ball 300 yards. I would want to hit the baby draw all the time but there are a couple holes on one course i play all the time that i just really want to hit this power fade. I can't wait to practice this.

I like a lot of this...especially the idea that you basically have your feet aligned open to the target but you still swing the club on what I like to refer to as the POWER PATH...which is inside to out (not across the path and over the top). You are still maximizing easy power with this swing path. However, what I think might be really tough is the release being different for the draw and the fade. I have a slightly strong grip on a draw. By changing the grip to dead neutral for the power fade, I bet you could simply release the same way that you do for a draw...but the ball should just get pushed right of the swing path...call it the Power Push...I'd love to see you try this and if it works, do a video tutorial

My best rounds are when my power fade is going....I’ve used it on every shot in a round before.

I saw Danny Maude slightly open or close the clubface prior to taking his grip, setting up his stance for a Fade/draw and then swinging with his normal release. He does mention with lots of practice you can develop the feel for the driver clubface. I am not sure how to “feel” the club face during a driver swing, any tips? By the way your driver swings are very impressive 300 yard power fades, is incredible. Your driving videos have definitely helped my game.

Trying to go from my stock draw forever to trying to fade. Problem is I can get my path 3-4 out to in, but my club face is more closed to path, usually 5-7 and just hooks worse. I can’t seem to get the club face 1-2 closed to target...

Always check grip and clubface first. Slightly weaker grip, clear the hips in front harder.

Great video! Did Mike favour a fade? Remember him talking about the carate chop./ Erik

Mike said he could fade it and carry it longer than anyone rolling with a draw. He could do anything with it though.

Always hear hold off the face. These guys aren’t hitting the ball that far by holding anything off. I’d like to know the release aspect of both draw and fade and the differences if there is any

Forearm rotation in most cases. Sometimes faders are just a bit handle stuck and go with it by playing out to in.

Haven't really noticed it. I just thought for a guy who hits it that far they wouldn't be big fades, but then I remember Bubba used to hit real big cuts when he was the longest on tour.

To get 177,5 bs you need to swing 119 mph, not 113. Something doesn’t add up...
@Inmotion70
@Inmotion70 4 жыл бұрын
Actually you just need 117.5 mph at a 1.51 smash factor. However, where I film the ground is not level and the unit sits several inches higher. I believe this makes it underreport clubhead speed.

For Christ sake if you want to do a video at least use something so we can see the ball flight. You could have been hitting 30 yard pulls for all we know.
