I stopped doing 3 sets of pullups 3 times a week because my elbow keeps hurting after doing this. Just did one set slow, then one set inverted rows also slow every other 1 or 2 days, 4 sec up/down 2xsec hold up and down. Not counting reps just till max failure. And to my surprice i could do 12 /14 normal pullups instead of being stuc at 8 /10 for couple months, after a month or so! Then tried the muscleup only 10 times each pullsession with bands before pullups and inverted rows. After 3 weeks i did my first muscle up. 1 / 2 set training preformed the right way works also. 3 sets is overraded ;), just go till or behind failure each time once will do good also, for me also no elbowpain anymore & still getting stronger. Love the training style i do something simular it works!.

ye mate, to get to this level i first need to be able to do weighted reps lol. Right now, my limit is 11 pullups at once. Looks like its a long way towards muscle ups

From what I've read, more reps will build volume while focusing on explosive single reps with rest between will build strength in the existing muscle without increasing volume. Athlean-x and Institute of Human Anatomy are awesome resources
