You had me at "new Space Harrier". This definitely has those vibes. The opening scene has assets pulled straight from the original. Only thing missing is that pumping soundtrack.

@@darkreyule Good Ear! Yeah but not the SEGA Saturn Soundtrack. I used the PS2 2500 Ver. OST for it. Maybe i do a real playthrough video this way, someday.

I am a big Space Harrier, Rez and Panzer Dragoon fan and I *love* this game. It's very much a spiritual successor and love letter to the 80s. I had 3 big apprehensions before playing. 1.) Is it going to be too slow 2.) Is it not going to be hard enough and 3.) Will there be enough stages and will it be reminiscent of Space Harrier ? and I was satisfied on all 3 counts. You fly slowly compared to SH, but the enemies are just as fast and the gameplay is frenetic, especially later on. There are all kinds of unlockables, score attack stuff, the game gets hard, you can play it on perma death mode if you are hardcore SH player, it is reminiscent of space harrier, but with a more whimsical, relaxed intro that ramps up well later on. I love this game and it brings so many good vibes. The music, which reminds me a ton of "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen, isn't really my cup of tea, but I found myself enjoying it and Singing along after a little while "I wish that.. I could get it all for free, think it all the tiiiiiime.... " lol 😆If you like space harrier, even if you're no good at it, get this, it's worth it. Plus it's only 25 bucks. And I love the unlockables and how cute I can make Arch... Thank you Yu Suzuki. I only wish it didn't take 40 years. Make Space Harrier 3 with Arch as an unlockable character ! lol :) Hell make Outrun 3 while you're at it.

The only thing that's holding this game back is the choice of music. It really needs a good soundtrack.

IDK..that 3rd (?) level's music was pretty dope. Level reminded me of Gun Valkyries for some reason.

Looks like Yu Su got A little confused with Panzer Dragoon and Space Harrier. This is more like Panzer Dragoon with an unlockable Soace Harrier sprite. Why does this game appear to use music more fit for a Phantasy Star Online game than a Space Harrier one? And why cant this charater Run on the ground? Fix it Team Yu Suzuki!

This looks very nostalgic, but why do the Japanese choose the lamest music for moments of suspense? Does Freddie Mercury's estate know about this blatant ripoff of his vocal style? For God's sake, instrumentals people, vocals in a major tone don't belong as BGM for games. Stop it.

The music is outright plagiarism....it goes way beyond "inspired by". I still like it though, and I think the game looks really really good

Looks pretty underwhelming, it's very slow paced and most of the environments are really barren.
