I have been using this for many years. I store my extra Audi key fob there. Saved my butt twice - once when valet lost my fob in Las Vegas; once when Audi dealer misplaced my fob when in for service.

I have used these for eight years and they are absolutely wonderful for placing an extra set of keys in the vault !

I immediately thought that this would be super helpful when heading to the beach and you don't want to take the chance of losing your keys to your car or to the place where you're staying. Super cool and, like you, I've never heard of this before. Would be more tempted to buy if under $45 but thanks for sharing it.

I purchased this a few years ago. Today I tried to get it opened but it is rusted to my receiver. It sounds good and I have taken it out before but now I’m in trouble. The lock seems to work but the sides of the safe part seem rusted to the the sides of the box assembly. I won’t be replacing this if I figure out a way to remove it.

Wow, I heard one other person say something similar. Did you have the rubber piece on the end? Thanks for sharing your experience with this item.

I think it's a great idea! Like you said I'd only use it for short periods but I definitely can see where it would come in handy. I'm curious though could anybody come with a screwdriver and reset code again to gain access?
@Jeffreviews4u2 жыл бұрын
In order to change the code, you first need to put in the correct code, otherwise the screw will not move. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment 👍
@cassandralibertywest43102 жыл бұрын
That was my first thought. lol. If you can set it the first time, why can't someone use a screwdriver to re-set it? g

use it for a month then for some reason the combination I set no longer worked. Now I will have to pick the lock just to get it open. Good thing it didn't happen when I had my keys in it!

Same with me how did you open it ? I'm thinking about breaking it open somehow (can it be done ?)

@@phillipmcgrath599 Same here, I've had mine installed for about a year and now can't get it open. I'm at home and just wanted to check the spare fob that is in it and now I'm really pissed.....good thing that I'm not stuck someplace and depending on this damn thing. Anyone found way to resolve this lock sticking issue?

How does it handle having been rear ended or backing into something? If you can't turn the numbers to select the right code to open it this becomes a problem...
@Jeffreviews4u Жыл бұрын
My guess would be it would break and you wouldn't need to worry about moving the dials. Thanks for stopping by and commenting 👍

My Audi was rear-ended, and I couldn't get it open. Called the company and was told to drill into the face of it many times until it opened. Fortunately a pair of pliers yanking on the open lever worked.
@qt3dot14ish Жыл бұрын
What would you care about opening a hitch safe to retrieve a car key to a car that's been totaled? That line of thinking makes no sense at all.
@ipune Жыл бұрын
@@qt3dot14ish who said anything about totaled?
@qt3dot14ish Жыл бұрын
There may have been some hyperbole in my comment but seriously, we use this at work and if our van gets rear ended to the point the safe cannot be opened, the expense to fix the damage would render the worry over a $70 safe (and contained key) irrelevant.

@@Jeffreviews4u $70 dollars seems expensive? Yikes. A five-pack of mini donuts is $5. A tow bill or a lock-out service is probably $150. A missed day of work, maybe $200. A video of you standing in the rain because you thought $70 was expensive, priceless.
